I plan on resigning from both my positions as the Washington State head coach and as the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach at the end of this season. For Washington State, I will resign at the end of the bowl season; for Pittsburgh, the end of the regular season. There’s no easy way to say this bluntly, and I know in the past I’ve been vocal and venting to others and to the community as a whole. I promise that is not the sole reason behind this. It’s something I’ve been meaning to say for a while. I’ve had time to think over and reflect on why I’m resigning. This isn’t really addressed to anyone in particular, but all I’d ask is that you read thoroughly so you can understand the point that I’m coming from. This community has been around for close to six years. I was able to join about five years ago, on December 31st to be exact. Through that time, I’ve had the chance to coach for various teams, each within a different conference. I got to work with several different members on various projects. From voting in the AP Poll to running CFBHC Gameday to doing one on one interviews and live press conferences. I’ve also partaken in off-season games like Mafia, BaP, and for awhile SHC. At face value, this is a community centered around the game of football. But even if you’re entirely new here or a veteran who’s been at their post for some time now, you know that this is much more than that. From this game, we’ve expressed interests within the realm of statistics, journalism, psychology, and even law. We have a wiki with over six years of data, on over thousands of players. We have generated media for teams and conferences going on for years now -- which in my opinion remains one of the best ways to be aware of other players and other programs. All I’m trying to say is that I’m really impressed. It’s not easy to make an entire fictional world around the game of football, each with their own fictional players and careers -- let alone sustain said game with a dedicated player base. So cheers to that. With that being said, I’ve stated previously that I want to begin work on a personal project. This is the primary reason for my resignation. It’s an idea I’ve had for a couple of years, and only recently that I begin to think more deeply on. It started as a ‘what if?’ and from there, I’ve been drafting over the scope and scale of this project. I might not have the answers now on how to implement the entire scope, but I know I have the skills and mindset to execute this. It’s going to take time, I want to be able to focus 100% on it. I don’t feel comfortable yet on specifying exactly this project is, except on the fact that it is indeed a game. Here’s what I can say at the moment: It is not a sports simulation of any kind. It’s not Be A Bison, nor is it the sequel to Be A Bison The gameplay is centered heavily on teamwork, strategy, and tactical communication with one another. Something something Sabaton I will not be making updates on my progress here. This is outside of the scope of the site, and so I think anything I write about this here would detract from it. The goal is to implement and run the project via discord. I’ll still be around. I’m happy to be a part of this community, getting the chance to know y’all and see everyone grow year over year. I’ve tried leaving before, and I think we know how that turned out. Just know that in order for me to build this project, I can’t be coaching a team. I will be working with Bingo and Joedchi on a replacement for both the Washington State job and the Pittsburgh Steelers head coaching position. If you’re interested in either, please reach out. I will also be giving feedback on my experiences with CFBHC and NFLHC from the 2016 season to 2023 by the end of the regular season. I hope everyone is doing well regardless. Thank you Bingo for letting me part of the Pac 12 for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and for giving me the opportunity to be a part of Washington State. I will do what I can to print out some media while I have a holiday break and I don’t need to worry about algorithms and applying for jobs. Press Conference is now open to any questions. ~TuscanSota

(Fr) Dominic Acuna works on his swim move during practice Over the past few seasons the Mountaineers have taken on a youth revolution of sorts, partly driven out of necessity and partly driven by success on the recruiting trail. As the the season has progressed coach smackemz has a total of 21 freshmen and sophomores that are seeing significant game action each week. The inexperience of the team combined with the nation's 2nd hardest schedule led to a rocky 0-4 start which had some calling for coach smackemz' head. However, as the team started to gain that valuable experience they have gone a run as of late winning 5 of their last 6 games putting them in sole possession of 2nd place in the Big XII conference. The only loss in that span was a 3 point road defeat at the hands of #11 ranked TCU, but the streak included victories over then #12 ranked Texas Tech, #7 ranked Oklahoma State, and Iowa State who was ranked #23 in the computer poll. The run has given West Virginia the opportunity to secure a bowl bid with one more victory, but has also has provided them control of their own destiny in regards for qualifying for the Big XII Conference game. The road will not be easy as the Mountaineers will travel to Waco, TX to play Baylor on Thursday night, and will host Oklahoma for Senior night during week 15. Both games will present the upstart Mountaineers with a difficult challenge to overcome. So how did this Mountaineer team rebound from such a poor start? Every revolution needs a veteran leader and this one started with the play of Senior quarterback Martin Lake. Over the past 6 games Martin Lake has played lights out football going 106/154 (68.8%) for 1,431 yards and 8 touchdowns while limiting himself to only 2 interceptions over that time. The West Virginia offense has shown superb balance over that time with a knack for explosive plays and the stellar play by Lake has kept defenses off balance and prevents them from keying on the running back duo of Mike Freeman and Bryce Madison. Lake's ability to be an effective passer has opened up running lanes for their running backs. The duo has combined for 895 yards over the 6 game streak which prevents defenses from focusing on Martin Lake and his bevy of sophomore wide receivers. That group of wideouts is led by 2022 Big XII Offensive Freshman of the Year Corey Easley who has surpassed 90 yards in 3/6 games and hit over 80 in a 4th. Fellow sophomore Etena Catingub has turned it on as of late being solidly in 2nd place on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. Sporting a solid offensive line the Mountaineers have opened up running lanes for their backs, while keeping Martin Lake upright for most of the season. All the fun is not just happening on offense, the defense has turned into a disruptive force. Led by superstar freshman Dominc Acuna the Mountaineers defensive front has caused chaos in the trenches slowing down opponents run games and putting immense pressure on the quarterback. Acuna leads the team with 29 tackles, 11 TFL, 9 sacks, and 3 FF, but it doesn't end there. Fellow freshman insider linebacker Lavonte Jones has really turned it on as of late with 29 tackles, 4 TFL, and 2 FFs. Fellow freshmen linebacker Hudson Collins and strong safety Bucky Richardson have also gotten into the action making big plays throughout the streak. Sophomore safety Bronson Stinson has excelled at the bandit position grabbing an interception and 2022 Big XII Defensive Freshman of the year Preston Evans has been a steadying force at the back of the defense. One major area of positive impact the youth movement has had on the Mountaineers is the substantial improvement in special teams. Kicking and punting were a major weakness of the Mountaineers during the 2022 season and the arrival of true freshman duo Zane McRae and Kelly Stacey has turned the unit into an overall strength. During 2022 the Mountaineers were a porous 13/23 on field goal attempts, but McRae has come in and currently sits at 15/16 on the year with his lone miss being an over 50 yard kick. Stacey has come in and taking the team's punting average from 37.6 yards per punt in 2022 to 41.6 yards per punt during the current season. These major improvements on special teams have helped the Mountaineers win the field position battle and reliably put points on the board during these close games. These are truly exciting times in Morgantown. The future is certainly bright with all of these young players performing well and getting valuable experience. However, the present is also very exciting as the Mountaineers have a chance to secure a bowl bid and control their own destiny in the Big XII conference race. "The past 6 games have been a lot of fun, guys are flying around making plays they seem to love playing together and are playing for the right reasons." smackemz said, "We are trying to take these final games one at a time and put our team in the best position to win." West Virginia is fortunate the young guys have come of age quickly, but they have just enough senior leadership on the team to really get the most out of the youth movement.

[2023] Week #2 Big Ten Review

It was a tough week for the B1G on the whole, but there have been some really solid performances thus far from teams. A lot of movement in the poll this week and I imagine that it's start to stabilize in the weeks ahead as teams continue to play common opponents. Below you'll find my Power Rankings for the Big Ten through two weeks of play, as well as my outlook for the week ahead! Big Ten Power Rankings Week 2 - 2023 Rank Trend Team Record Points 1 ↑1 Temple Owls (5) 4-0 94 2 ↑6 Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (5) 4-0 93 3 ----- Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 4-0 86 4 ----- Purdue Boilermakers 2-2 73 5 ↓4 Northwestern Wildcats 1-3 65 6 ↑1 Maryland Terrapins 2-2 62 7 ↑3 Charlotte 49ers 2-2 51 8 ↓2 Illinois State Redbirds 1-3 27 9 ↓4 Butler Bulldogs 1-3 16 10 ↓1 Marquette Golden Eagles 1-3 11 How do Big Ten teams fare nationally? (Based on Week #2 AP Poll) Temple #7 Loyola-Chicago #8 Coastal Carolina #14 Maryland #19 Purdue #20 Northwestern #27 (25 votes) Week in Review 1. Temple - The Owls and coach @alienufo made a late run to take down #12 Mississippi State last week and needed overtime to do so. It was a gritty performance by our top team in the Big Ten. They then went down to Texas and came away with a scrappy 65-54 win over a winless North Texas team where they only scored six first-half points. 2. Loyola-Chicago - The Ramblers continue to play good defense as they opened their week with a 65-51 win over UTSA. They then struggled a bit more against Oregon but came out with the win 63-62. It will be interesting to see how they perform away from home. 3. Coastal Carolina - Coastal Carolina sits at 4-0 now after two good wins. They took down Air Force 71-62 in the first game of the week. They then went on the road to ULM and won 63-55 in a game that was very close throughout. Coach @imerman has to be happy with the way the team has started. 4. Purdue - Purdue started their week on the road at #17 Alabama and came away with a crazy win. They headed into the last quarter of the game ahead 58-46 and ended up scoring just four points. They still won the game 62-60 even with that collapse. They then went on the road again to #7 Villanova and fell in a close game 73-62. Coach @inspiral2 has to be pleased with a split on the road. 5. Northwestern - Northwestern had a tough opening round of the Maui Invitational as they dropped their game to #1 LSU by a single point. @MasonAsher and Northwestern then took on #16 North Carolina where they promptly laid an egg getting beat by 24 points. Even though they dropped two games, they weren't bad losses especially seeing as how they rolled four 0's in the fourth. 6. Maryland - Maryland had two good wins this past week to move to 2-2 on the season. They took down South Alabama at home easily and then dispatched #4 Notre Dame in a huge win. @tsweezy has to be pleased about his week as Maryland is starting their rise up the polls. 7. Charlotte - Coach @imerman led Charlotte to two wins on the week as they barely squeezed by Boise State at home and then took down #12 Mississippi State by five points. They are playing a lot of close games and while a win over Mississippi State is good, a two-point win over Boise State is not. 8. Illinois State - Coach @VerifiedThing fell to New Mexico to open the week at home by 11 points. They then hosted #1 Virginia Tech and lost by just three points. This was a decent week even though they came away with no wins. 9. Butler - They fell to Florida at home by a single point and looked pretty solid in the loss. Butler the hosted the #23 team in the nation and took down Tulane in a low scoring 60-56 win. They struggled early in the year and a lot of Big Ten Teams had good weeks so Butler falls for now. 10. Marquette - Marquette was able to beat a struggling Xavier team early in the week but then lost big to the #25 Arizona Wildcats late in the week. Marquette is going to struggle this year and the big loss on the road was a signal of that. The Week Ahead Butler: @ Xavier, vs. #1 Virginia Tech Butler starts their week against the 1-3 Musketeers on the road in what should be a winnable game. They will then head to be obliterated by the top team in the nation. Charlotte: @ #13 Auburn, @ Seton Hall Two tough road games are on the horizon for Charlotte. They travel to take on Auburn and then head to Seton Hall. Two wins this week would be huge. Coastal Carolina: @ #14 Duke, @ Kansas State Does Coastal Carolina want to prove they are legit? This is the week. A big game at Duke followed by a game against 1-3 Kansas State. I see no reason they should be 0-2 this week. Illinois State: @ Wichita State, @ Iowa State Illinois State has a tremendous chance to get to 3-3 with two wins this week. They are away from home but the state's are two of the worst teams in basketball this year. Loyola-Chicago: @ Boise State, vs. North Texas Loyola-Chicago won't be tested much this week and should walk away 6-0. Away games are always tough to win and I'd keep an eye on that early week Boise State game. Marquette: @ #25 Arizona, vs. #17 West Virginia Marquette's schedule has done them no favors as they meet two more Top-25 teams. They are in the basement of the Big Ten and I don't foresee them getting out anytime soon. Maryland: vs. New Mexico, TBD (PK Invitational) Maryland has a good chance to come home with the PK Invitational title as they open with New Mexico which should be a fairly easy win. They are on the easy side of the bracket. Northwestern: vs. Colorado State (Maui Invitational), vs. #6 Duke Northwestern continues the Maui Invitational against Colorado State who is ranked #26. They then host Duke and are looking for a signature win. Northwestern can easily sit 1-5 after the week. Purdue: @ #1 Virginia Tech, @ Wichita State Purdue heads to Virginia Tech to take on the top team in the country and then they head to Wichita State. This is going to be a tough week for the Boilermakers. Temple: vs. Baylor, vs. Air Force Temple has two home games this week against two .500 opponents. They will need to win both to keep their top spot in the Big Ten as these aren't the toughest teams out there.

    [2023] Hogs Haven Week 13

Winners The Washington Redskins - The Redskins scored more points than the Giants and that means... *checks notes*... that they are the winners. They also reached double digit wins for the first time in franchise history. Ty Royal - Royal had a great year for a last year for a rookie 5th round pick. He started the season hot before hitting a rookie wall late in the year. But this season he has elevated his game to another level. He leads the team in receiving yards (969), has the same amount of TDs as the next 3 players combined (9), and has raised his yards per reception to 16.2. Neal Watson - The rookie kicker missed FGs in each of his first 3 games. And he hasn't missed since. Since week 3 he has been a perfect 16-16 on FGs attempts and 29-29 on PATs. He has hit from 40+ in 5 straight games. Nick Ramos - Going against a very good DE group for the Giants, OG Nick Ramos didn't even allow a pressure. There is a lot of recognition to go around on this offensive line, but Ramos shines for the 2nd time in 3 weeks for this performance. Week 17 Hype - The Redskins just keep winning and sit at 10-2 on the year. The Philadelphia Eagles just keep winning and sit at 9-3. The teams match up in week 17 at Lincoln Financial Field in a rematch of the week 6 overtime thriller. The winner of this game will likely be the #2 seed in the playoffs while the loser will have to go on the road during wildcard weekend as the #5 seed. Losers The New York Giants - The Giants had a lower score than the Redskins which would have been great if this was golf, but sadly it is not. Sam Hiller-Weeden - SHW was the highest graded player for the Redskins in 6 games last season. He has been the highest grade in 0 this year. He has averaged 98 receptions for 1,154 yards and 12 TDs over the last 2 seasons. He is on pace for 48 receptions for 583 yards and 1 TD this season. He has currently scored less TDs than CB Tre'Davious Dikes. Eric McLean - It hasn't been a great year for McLean. He leads the NFL in turnovers (13 INT and 2 FL) and has been sacked 32 times (most in the league). McLean wasn't put in a situation to succeed, and the book is far from written on his career. But he hasn't provided the flash the Giants were hoping for when they traded up to get him. The Redskin TE room - The Redskin TE room has suffered 3 concussions, a severe achilles rupture and a sever groin strain this season. If I was Oscar Fisk I would consider a position change this week. I Dunnos Oscar Fisk - The Redskins traded a 4th round pick to the Dolphins for Oscar Fisk after Frank Moffett sustained a season ending injury. Fisk failed to appear on a statsheet in 3 straight games before being benched for Tony DeMarco. DeMarco left with an injury on Sunday and Fisk caught his first pass for the Redskins. He had 3 catches for 24 yards. That's not the production the Redskins were looking for, but maybe he is starting to figure things out?

In my academic papers I write really god damn long sentences. Dunno what it is but I just keep going until it becomes a conglomeration of commas and semicolons that takes up half a page. Fortunately my girlfriend, who usually edits my papers, knows that I do this and will just circle whole sentences and just yell at me to break it up into at least 2-3 smaller ones.

@Hagan and I were talking about how one flaw we have with writing is not being able to use affect or effect. You can probably look back at old stuff I've written and see that I never really use those, and generally use the word impact instead. I was curious if anyone else have any other types of things they struggle with when writing. For affect and effect, no matter what I do, I can't use them right in a sentence. I know one is a noun and one is a verb, but when it comes down to it, I can't tell the difference.

The PAC-12 appreciates Coach Tuscansota's work with the Washington State Cougars, and we wish him the best. Applications for this position can be submitted at any time, but as Tuscan said, will be processed after the Bowl Season. Tuscan has really done a solid job recruiting this season, so that is not a valid concern with timing. The PAC-12 Office would prefer that the WSU coach going forward have an affinity and real-life connection to Wazzu. Happy trails, @TuscanSota. Hope to see you 'round these parts again soon.

    [2023] Week #13 - SNF

Never thought I'd see that this season lol. It took awhile to find the right scheme and lineup, but I'm pleased Ryan Clark and this defense have started to find their footing. When Wheeler went down, most franchises probably would have started looking straight to the draft. Instead, Bubada acquired Clark, cut Woodruff, and signed Youngblood who is now 4/4 on FGs for us. We're a 3-point loss to Miami (on two missed 40-yard FGs) away from a firm wildcard spot. I think we have to win out to sniff that last playoff spot, but the fact that it is possible after losing our most indispensable player speaks to Bubada being the best Exec in the league.

Absolutely needed that one after the Carolina loss. Second win ever at Lambeau, first time that we've won in all four NFC North stadiums in the same year, Randall Jones's player grade is the highest we've ever had, Ivory Hull was unbreachable, and we will have at least a .500 record for just the second time ever. Austin, TX Welcome back to LHN’s continuing coverage of our Texas Longhorns recruitment for the 2023 season. In what turned out to be a busy bye week, the Longhorns secured three commitments. We will look over each one. OLB Kenneth Frost 6-2 219 Fr Eden (Eden TX) 1.5 of 3.5 [Blitz] (Pictured above #13) The Longhorns landed their second OLB commitment of the cycle this week from Kenneth Frost. Not as highly skilled our touted as their other OLB Commitment (Ricardo Cortes) Frost will bring versatility to the Longhorns defense. He projects to play well in speciality LB roles and will be brought in to help pressure the QB. Frost had drawn interest from other Big XII schools like Texas Tech and Oklahoma but decided to commit to Coach Ape and become a Longhorn after he the full court press was put on last week. Frost is the 64th Ranked OLB in the class and is a redshirt candidate for the Longhorns next season. WR Patrick Jaeger 6-2 160 Fr Mesquite (Mesquite TX) 2.0 of 3.0 [Speed] The Longhorns added a little bit of firepower to the offensive side of the ball this week with Patrick Jaeger. The Longhorns have been very focused on the defense and filling the holes that they had there but have taken on some players on offense to continue to support their future QB Benjamin Lockwood. Jaeger was not the Longhorns first target at WR (they were involved early on Ibrahim Seay from Bridge City TX) but he is the only WR they have taken this year. His teammates have dubbed Jaeger “White Lightning” for his speed off the line and after the catch. Jaeger ultimately projects to be a backup player at the next level who could provide some splash plays. Interestingly, Jaeger was ranked higher by the recruiting services than the Longhorns other WR target Seay, coming in as the 54th ranked WR this year. Scouts think he will easily hit his ceiling while in Austin. OG Bryan Day 6-7 331 Fr Marble Falls (Marble Falls TX) 2.5 of 3.0 [Run Blocking] (#66 above) The last commitment that Coach Ape secured this week was Bryan Day from Marble Falls Texas. Day is a highly advanced Guard who projects to be a 4 year backup in Austin. Day excels in the run game and could swap in during short yardage situations if needed to. Day was on Coach Ape’s radar for a while and was close to commitment earlier this cycle but UTEP showed him the slightest passing interest and he delayed an immediate commitment. Eventually as many other Texas recruits have learned this cycle, UTEP is calling everyone but already had their class full up and is just playing the role of a disruption. Day was the 63rd ranked Guard this recruiting cycle. Day, Jaeger, and Frost join the Longhorns class that now stands at 14 strong. The others in this class are listed below DT Zaquan Dykes 6-5 288 Fr Northland Christian (Houston TX) 2.5 of 4.0 [2-Gap] OLB Ricardo Cortes 5-11 224 Fr Roscoe (Roscoe TX) 2.5 of 4.0 [Coverage] OT Uzoma Akabueze 6-7 263 Fr Abuja (Nigeria) 3.0 of 4.0 [Run Blocking] DE Shaq Edwards 6-5 254 Fr DeLeon (DeLeon TX) 1.0 of 4.0 [Blitz] DE Aaron Holguin 6-6 258 Fr Flour Bluff (Corpus Christi TX) 2.0 of 4.0 [Contain] TE Dereece Taylor 6-5 194 Fr DeLeon (DeLeon TX) 3.0 of 4.0 [Receiving] P Cedric Renaudin 5-7 185 Fr Marseille (France) 1.0 of 4.5 [Power] CB Shaq Lawson 5-11 187 Fr Westwood (Austin, TX) 1.0 of 4.0 [Zone Coverage] OT Isaac McIntyre 6-1 272 Fr Gladstone (Gladstone OR) 2.0 of 5.0 [Pass Blocking] DE Raymond Nunn 6-2 267 Fr Rising Star (Rising Star TX) 3.0 of 3.0 [Blitz] SS Patrick Munnerlyn 6-2 189 Fr Faith Christian (Grapevine TX) 3.0 of 3.5 [Man Coverage] RUMOR HAS IT 1. Coach Ape is still persistently going after in state WILL LB Omar French. The Longhorns have seemed to open up a gap on his other offers but Akron is still rumored to be in on him. French remains at the top of the Longhorns target list for the time being 2. Depending on Junior College players the Longhorns are now thinking they will get to 21 players for this class with 7 more slots to fill until the scholarship limit is hit.

    Score Sheet

    For your use when calculating your own score. It's in the toolbar as a basketball hoop. Just so you're clear. Point calculation order: Points from the roll for that quarter. Points from any potential doubling rolls. (Only if applicable from a rolled 1 in step 1 - or 2 if player is a sharpshooter, see below - otherwise does not occur.) Points from continuous abilities. Points from single use abilities. Points from stars. Only applies if the player still has at least 1 point after the previous four steps have been calculated. Negative points from opponent abilities. table { width: 70%; border-spacing: 0; } table td { padding: 3px; } tr { background-color: #FFF; } tr:nth-child(even){ background-color: #EAEAEA; } table.boxscore tr { background-color: #fff; } table.boxscore td { font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 90%; text-align: center; border: 1px solid #D3D3D3; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; } table.boxscore td:first-of-type { border-left: 0px; } table.boxscore tr:first-of-type td, table.boxscore tr:last-of-type td { border-bottom: 0px; } table.compare td { font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 80%; text-align: center; } table td.block { height: 35px; text-align: center; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 100%; background-color: #00004c; color: #fff; font-weight: bold; } table td.teamspecific { width: 49%; min-width: 400px; display:inline-block; } table td.teamspecific td.stat{ text-align: left; } table td.teamspecific td.name{ text-align: left; } table td.teamspecific td.stat.name{ width: 12%; background-color: #BBB; font-weight:bold; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 80%; } table td.teamspecific td.label { width: 40%; background-color: #BBB; font-weight: bold; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 80%; text-align: left; } @media (max-width: 840px) { table td.teamspecific{ width: 100%; } } SCHOOL MASCOT Score Sheet (First/Second Quarter Early/Late) Player Rolls Doubling Rolls Attributes Stars Total Notes - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
