  1. Memphis style BBQ gets my vote hands down.
  2. Good luck to Meredith and Harvey on their new teams. Happy to welcome Carrier to the Hawkeyes.
  3. Week 1: vs Eastern Michigan @wisconsinfan Week 2: vs Florida State @D Stack Week 3: @ Iowa State @Minnow
  4. Iowa hosted their annual Black and Gold Spring Game last weekend and we are going to breakdown the top performers and how the position battles are shaking out. Top Performers The Black team offense – Just check out the stats for QB Corbin (389 yds 3TD/0 INT), RB Vaughn (125 yds 2 TD) and WRs Slone and Simpson (both over 100 yds receiving). This performance was against the 2nd team defense but the offense looked good and had no turnovers FR QB Daniel Collins – Collins is a 5-star recruit from Iowa City so the hype around his Hawkeye career is through the roof. And his first game didn’t disappoint. Collins threw for 382 yds with 2 TD and 1 INT against the 1st team defense. The future of the Iowa offense is in good hands with Collins and Corbin. FR OLB Levy and SS Clinton – both players saw substantial playing time for the Gold team and both players impressed. There is some depth at both positions so it still likely that the Hawkeyes will redshirt these freshmen, but the decision won’t be easy. Position Battles WR3 – With Slone and Simpson in place as WR1 and WR2 the battle was for WR3. FR Valentine played well but did have 2 drops. SO Clarke was explosive and scored a TD, but also had a drop. It looks like it will be a close competition between these two players. OG – Maxwell separated himself from King and will be starting in the fall. OLB – FR Levy made a big statement recording 7 tackles and 1 sack. He will have a chance to make contribute as a freshman if he is not redshirted. SS – FR Clinton played well, but JR Beard had a strong performance and did enough to win the starting position. That will likely mean a redshirt for Clinton. K – Abbrederis had a good bounce back season last year but struggled again missing his only field goal attempt. He still has the upper hand over Franks, but it’s a closer competition than expected. Go Hawks!
  5. My QB position is looking good for the next few years. Need some improvement on the o-line and in the kicking game - seems like an ongoing theme for this team. Levy and Clinton making me rethink redshirting them this season.
  6. Iowa City, IA: Kinnick Stadium will host the 2024 Spring Game this coming weekend. Fans are invited to attend and will receive a 2024 schedule poster that they can get autographed by players after the game. They will also be able to check out the new renovations completed to the south end zone. Here are some storylines heading into the game. Welcome Back Hawkeyes The 2023 season saw the Hawkeyes exceed expectations on their way to playing in a bowl game. The 2024 season will see 17 starters returning, 10 on offense and 7 on defense. Guard Coop Logan is the only offensive player lost to graduation. His likely replacement is a highly touted redshirt freshman Anthony Maxwell. The defense lost 4 starters, including defensive backs Kaden Rivers, Khalil Spears, and Ricky Chambers and inside linebacker Elias French. Junior Joel Baumann will take over for French and 5-star prospect Rashard Pitts will take over at free safety. Dominique Richmond will likely replace Spears at cornerback opposite returning starter Marcedes Payton. It is still to be determined who will fill the void at strong safety – more on that later. Most Anticipated Player – Freshman QB Daniel Collins Although Collins is likely to redshirt this season everyone is excited to see what the future holds for the 5-star prospect. Hawkeye fans are certainly familiar with Collins as he lead the Iowa City Little Hawks to a state title as a senior. Collins will get a chance to show what he can do at the college level when he leads the Gold team offensive unit. Other freshmen getting a lot of attention are OLB Blaine Levy, ILB Nick Rawlins, and SS Will Clinton. Rawlins will likely be redshirted but Levy and Clinton may have an opportunity to step in and play as freshmen this season. Position Battles While DeMaurice Stone and DeShaun Simpson return as the top wideouts there will be a battle for the third wideout position. Sophomores Ahiga Shepherd and Michael Clarke and freshmen Richard Jordan and Curtis Valentine are all battling it out. The coaching staff seems to be hinting that Valentine is the man to beat. Senior Mordechai King and freshman Anthony Maxwell will be competing for the starting right guard position opposite Javier Elizondo. Maxwell has the higher potential and a slight edge in this contest. On defense the outside linebacker position battle is fierce. Senior Chris Lawler seems a likely starter. Sophomores Ayden Britto and Elliot Spencer will be trying to outcompete freshman Blaine Levy, who looks to be on the outside looking in. Britto’s experience as a starter from last season has him the man to beat. As previously mentioned, the competition for strong safety is still undecided. The strong safety position seemed to be a lock for junior Sam Beard, but a strong spring has freshman Will Clinton right in the mix. But Clinton will have to make a big statement to move to the top and avoid being redshirted. Stay tuned for analysis and commentary after the game. Go Hawks!
  7. So I should take that as a compliment right? gg @Jumbo

  9. Do Local Connection recruits count towards the 21 total scholarships?
  10. Ok I see that. So does that mean I lost my chance at him?
  11. So I don't see the conditional player that I meet the requirements for (Floyd of Rosedale winner) on my recruiting list - how do I put a scholarship offer in for him?
