Akron Update week 1- Akron @ Middle Tennessee
    9. -Sticking with Akron when tempting jobs were available after I lost to Kent to go 5-7. I say this to all new coaches, stick with it whether it takes 2 seasons or 4 season, the longer the better it feels when your finally good squad. Please don't jump off teams mid failure because the 8 win season might be right around the corner.

      [2021] Week #13 - Saturday Morning

      Gg @Kirby
    13. Welcome your weekly press conference show. This week we bring you Coach Jieret You may being asking questions now! Reporter *Obvious akron fan waits patiently at the front of the line* "How prepared are you for Saturday's game following the heartbreaking loss?" Coach Jieret First, I'd have to disagree with the "heartbreaking" adjective. No, we didn't want or expect to lose, but since Day One I've told them that we leave the expectations behind. We practice hard, play hard, execute well, and the results will come. Unfortunately we didn't do all of those things last Saturday and the results were against us. Our offense scuffled and I didn't choose the best way to shake them out of it. Against an underrated team like Akron you can't come out at less than 100% and expect to win. Hopefully the adjustments we made correct that, Husky Stadium's a tough place to play. Next question please Reporter "Tell me, what has your team been focusing on this week in preparations for Washington." Coach Jieret Well like I said above our offense was in bit of a funk. You all know that DeSean Madison drives our offense, and I think that he was starting to improvise a bit when the blocking wasn't quite there. So we worked on tightening our blocking footwork and getting to DeSean to trust that the hole will be there when he needs it. Especially against a defensive line as good as Washington's is, we have to win up front. Defensively we have to contain Jake Davis. From where I sit, Jake seems to be getting more flack than is deserved but that might be because he had that "savior" mantle put on him way too early. He's still a heck of a QB and our secondary will have to be on their toes. Reporter "Who, do you feel in your mind, is the hardest worker on your offense/defense?" Coach Jieret On offense, I'm going to highlight WR Aaden Jack. He was looked at as nothing more than a depth player when we recruited him, and Aaden's always had a chip on his shoulder about that. Now, he's our leading receiver and I couldn't be happier for him. Defense? Our nickel corner Miles Bradford. He's a true freshman, you know; we challenged Miles to contribute right away and he's done well for us. He hates making the same mistake more than once, so he devours film like he's afraid we're going to cut him off. If the work he's putting in now shows what he'll do in the future, we're in very good hands at corner for the next few years. Reporter "Do you sneak back into the NCAA playoffs?" Coach Jieret I hope this questions is still relevant in a few weeks, because that means we've won the MAC. But even if it were, I don't know. With so many teams spread across many conferences, it would take a lot for that to even be feasible. But then again, you could say the same for last year too.
