  5. Welcome to USA Today's Training Camp Reports. Here's what's buzzing at camps in Pittsburgh and Vegas: ________________ Even after Patrick Murphy unfortunately went down with a severe ACL rupture, the Steelers defense has looked dominant, with two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year, DE Carlos Washington, along with CB Kordell McKinnon completely overwhelming the opposing offense. The Steelers traded their first rounder for longtime Bucs QB Taylor Heiden this offseason, and he has looked good in camp, but he's struggling to get help from everyone else. WR Tyron Chambers, the fourth year wideout who notably did not know about the existence of NFLHC's conferences, was not at his best, and the running game consistently struggled to get anything going. It's looking like the defense will have to carry Pittsburgh this year if they want to make some noise. ________________ The Raiders, after having been overtaken by the Chiefs in 2023, are looking to bounce back in 2024 with a vengeance. While Nick Hall was once known for his fumbles, he's mostly cleared that up recently, especially thanks to help from improved offensive lines led by first-ever Raiders draft pick OG David Wilson. Unfortunately, the offensive line has not looked the same in training camp. While at times the line has excelled, especially the interior, it has notably struggled with even basic protection concepts at times. LT Kiuga Kamu has been having issues with receiving signals from C Brendan Doherty, for instance. It remains to be seen if these issues will carry into the regular season, but if we see Nick Hall have a few games where he is sacked many times or fumbles the ball, the protection scheme will more likely than not be to blame.
  6. Welcome to Around the NFLHC. Here is what's buzzing around the league today: ________________ Chicago Bears QB Mohammed Foster is holding a camp for underprivileged children in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he played his college football. "The median income in Morgantown is $20,649, and 23.3% of Morgantown children live below the poverty line. We want to come out, give the kids a fun and safe experience, teach them some football, and get them excited about the University of West Virginia too." Foster's Bears teammates Donnie Allen and Jeff Holleyman were also present at the camp to help out Foster. "I'm from a place called Kokomo, [Indiana] where a decent chunk of kids live below the poverty line. I still spend my offseasons there to get away from it all," Allen was quoted as saying. ________________ New England Patriots RB Ron Thomas, coming over to the Patriots from Buffalo and the recipient of a 3 year, $30 million contract (with $25 million guaranteed) this offseason, had his driver's license suspended by the Ohio police after a second reckless driving conviction within a one-year period. Thomas, an Ohio native, was convicted of operation of a motor vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the second time in a one-year period, a fourth-degree misdemeanor in Ohio. He was reportedly also fined $250 for the offense.
  7. Welcome to Around the NFLHC. Here is what's buzzing around the league today: ________________ Tennessee Titans starting corners Jack Ramsey and Jordan Harris are reportedly upset with the front office not addressing the strong safety position this offseason. Incumbent starter Tywan Tafoya struggled last year and is reportedly on the verge of retirement, and the team has not yet made any reported attempts to require a different player. According to ESPN's , the duo want the front office to attempt to add Georgia's Jarvis Bolton in the draft, or try to acquire a respected veteran in a trade. _______________ ESPN's Lindsey Thiry is reporting that an unnamed Chargers player thinks QB Matty Swift should be replaced. "It's ridiculous, he's never had a winning record or finished in the top half in the league in passer rating but there aren't even any whispers about us even trying to acquire another QB. Reggie Watkins is available, and we won't even make an offer," the player was quoted as saying. _______________ The Cowboys running back position group is worried about being replaced, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. Starter Adrian Robinson knows he has struggled to live up to replacing Vaughan Abraham and fulfilling his 4 year, $20 million contract (which he's halfway through) and is worried about the team wanting to move on following his Week 2 ACL rupture, while backups Kalei Keil and Jayden Huff are on the final years of their respective rookie deals with no indication of the team wanting to re-sign them as of yet. While the trio is worried about being replaced, they have enjoyed playing together and hope they can continue to do so going forward. _______________ Vikings C John Hadley does not like the transition tag. Apparently, he is so upset by the team's move to tag him after picking up his fifth year option that he has asked the organization to look to move him in the near future, per the Star Tribune's Ben Goessling. His preferred choice of team might be the Indianapolis Colts, being that he is from Indiana, but at this point he is frustrated with the organization and wants to move on. _______________ The Redskins secondary coaches are upset with the team's lack of movement in addressing the linebacker positions this offseason according to ESPN's John Keim. Corners coach Alexander Hall apparently told the front office that "everyone except Derrick Martin is complete garbage" and that "the entire position needs to be completely overhauled." _______________ Jets QB Erik Wegert has been lobbying the front office to upgrade the skill positions after letting Paul Howell and Matt Stone leave this offseason. According to The Athletic's Connor Hughes, Wegert wants the team to try to add weapons "both through the draft and through trades," because he feels the team has become too reliant on rookies to fill in those spots recently. _______________ Bears RB Vaughan Abraham has reportedly been struggling with a nagging injury. Per The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain, the normally durable Abraham picked up some sort of injury playing pick up basketball this offseason that the team has been trying to keep out of the media for unknown reasons. Abraham reportedly picked up this injury the day after the season ended and has been struggling with it ever since. The team does seem to think that he should be ready for the start of the regular season, however.
