[2021] NFLHC Key Injuries: Week 4

    Recommended Posts

Welcome to the week 4 edition of the NFLHC Key Injury Report! This week we look across the AFC and the dire receiving situation in New Orleans!

Elvis Williams, RB, New England Patriots:patriots:, Moderate Wrist Fracture

The Patriots lose their best running back for a considerable amount of time. Williams is out with a wrist fracture that sidelines him until a possible week 11 return. The Patriots are currently 1-3, and Williams was a key source of offense. Williams has ran 64 times for 278 yards and a touchdown. The Patriots are looking to rookie Daniel Hutchins to step up and fill his role until then.

Jonathan Goodwin, DE, Indianapolis Colts:colts:, Severe ACL Rupture

Goodwin’s season is sadly over. The Colts’ top defensive end is done after rupturing his ACL in week 4. The defensive end was looking towards a solid season, as he racked up 14 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Now the Colts have to look at veteran Keyshawn Vance to step up in his stead. The talent difference between the two is considerable. The problem this poses for the Colts is if Vance can bring any sort of pass rush.

Rodney Montgomery, WR, Kansas City Chiefs:chiefs:, Moderate Biceps Tear

Attention Kansas City Chiefs opponents: Just focus on stopping the run. The Chiefs lose their top WR for at least 4 weeks. This is a huge blow to the Kansas City offense. Quarterback Erasmus McCready will have no one reliable to throw to outside of star tight end Spec Davidson. Prepare to see the Chiefs be carried (no pun intended) by running backs Terrence Rogers and Justin Buchanan.

Sergio Miller, OLB, Las Vegas Raiders:raiders:, Severe ACL Rupture

The pipe is unforgiving when it comes to ACL injuries. The Raiders lose their best outside linebacker for the whole year. Miller racked up 4 tackles and 1 sack so far this season. Now the Raiders have to look at the combined effort of Jamie Price and Timothy Smith to fill that void. Outside linebacker is now the weakest position for the Raiders, and they will need to figure out how to infuse talent into that position.

Carlos Warren, WR, New Orleans Saints:saints:, Mild Elbow Fracture

If you’re a wide receiver and want to stay in good health, don’t play in New Orleans. The Saints are down to only 3 active wide receivers after the loss of slot receiver Carlos Warren. Warren is out until week 9 with a mild elbow fracture. The Saints did trade with the New York Giants for receiver Cotton Lewis in exchange for Patrick Lambert and a 4th round pick. The Saints will have to hope the duo of Cotton Lewis and Sean Jenkins is enough to generate any pass offense. One thing is for sure, running back Sterling Brown is going to continue having field days while the passing offense figures itself out.
