THE GAME (OF THE YEAR)

The Game lives up to the hype this year as (10-1) Michigan traveled to Columbus to take on (10-1) Ohio State for the right to take on Purdue in the B1G Championship. After a grueling battle that took 2 overtimes to decide, it was the Wolverines who stood victorious 36-33 in what was possibly the best game of the season.

WILD WEST

The Las Vegas Raiders and the Denver Broncos both won their games Sunday, setting up a week 17 showdown to decide the AFC West. The Raiders toppled the Chiefs 24-14 and the Broncos survived the Jaguars 27-23.

CHAMPIONSHIP SZN

As the final week of the regular season wraps up, teams turn their attention to the conference championships and bowl season. There are some solid match ups to look forward to with big implications.

NICE

The Detroit Lions and the Indianapolis Colts won this week, while the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings took losses, all becoming 6-9 on the season.

Who is the best UDFA you have signed?

    Recommended Posts

Can’t remember hitting on anyone very significant but here’s the one that stands out to me

    C Sailo Sofara 6-1 281 1 BYU [Run Blocking] 73

went +4 last off-season and we switched to him as our starter in Indy a couple weeks ago and haven’t gone down in OL Ratings I don’t believe. Hoping for another solid progression, might have found a gem of a Center in UDFA in a league where the Center position is hard to nail down. Obviously not a Booker T Washington but still a nice find.

Tywan Tafoya was our original back up SS in our inaugural season and had a huge +6 progression and started for years until I accidentally let him slip to FA.

    2015 - SS Tywan Tafoya 6-2 185 R WashingtonState [ZoneCoverage] 69

    2021 - SS Tywan Tafoya 6-2 185 6 Washington State [Zone Coverage] 88

    K Thomas McMahan 6-2 203 1 Oregon [Power] 79

He's been 48/61 in his first two years, and has been much better this year than last. Progressed +2 over his first offseason as well. Pretty decent for an UDFA Kicker. Has saved me from having to spend a draft pick on a kicker.

probably Willie Hodge, WR from Penn State.  Signed him as a 70 overall in 2015 and has been on my team ever since.  Hes only been a starter 1 year, but occasionally had to fill in for injured players or play in the slot.  Not amazing by any means, but I haven't had any really notable guys.

The only one that jumps out at me that I was involved with is K Riley McNeil. Really strong rookie season, leading to him not only being excited to be in Houston, but also progressing during training camp! He struggled out of the gate this season, but has come back around. We're really happy to have the kid and think he'll be a good kicker for awhile (as long as we stop making him attempt long ass field goals).

The best I've ever coached is clearly Booker T. Washington.

WR Israel Hawker is a new one that has been talked on, but he has 49 receptions for 750 yards and 7 TD this year when he's only started maybe one or two games. Not bad for a 71 overall. That's certainly the best performance we've had from what was essentially a UDFA, although this is his second year technically.

    P Scottie Ware 5-10 174 3 Clemson [Power] 86

Signed him as an 80 rated UDFA. Been solid and improving every year. 13th in punting average this year.

or PR Margene Huard 6-6 169 3 Arizona [Specialist] 83

He was a 68 rated WR. Started out as our WR #6 in 2019 but after injuries to Tommy Furrey and Cap Christian, we had to make some changes and Todd randomly threw him in as our KR/PR. He had 2 PR TDs in his first two games and has been our KR/PR since. He has 2 PR TDs this season. Looks like there are only 5 teams with multiple return TDs.

Hawker was a Viking for a hot minute, he's probably my answer as well. Otherwise it's probably WR Aaron Ayala, who went 14/167/1 in 2020
