The Game lives up to the hype this year as (10-1) Michigan traveled to Columbus to take on (10-1) Ohio State for the right to take on Purdue in the B1G Championship. After a grueling battle that took 2 overtimes to decide, it was the Wolverines who stood victorious 36-33 in what was possibly the best game of the season.

The Las Vegas Raiders and the Denver Broncos both won their games Sunday, setting up a week 17 showdown to decide the AFC West. The Raiders toppled the Chiefs 24-14 and the Broncos survived the Jaguars 27-23.

As the final week of the regular season wraps up, teams turn their attention to the conference championships and bowl season. There are some solid match ups to look forward to with big implications.

The Detroit Lions and the Indianapolis Colts won this week, while the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings took losses, all becoming 6-9 on the season.

    ep. 2:

    :zips:Akron Zips (8-4) @darkage

    :wmu:#20 Western Michigan Broncos (10-2) @Jieret

Jieret and the Western Michigan Broncos are on the cusp of the 11-win tier - can they hold off the red-hot Akron Zips?

    Three important matchups:

DT Marlon Bailey 6-7 322 (Sr) Goshen (Goshen, OH) 5.0 of 5.0 [2-Gap]

OG Alex Westbrook 6-2 291 (Jr) Lincoln Park (Chicago, IL) 4.0 of 4.0 [Run Blocking]

ILB Devin Frazier 6-1 257 Jr Lakeland Community College (Kirtland, OH) 4.5 of 5.0 [Mike]
RB DeSean Madison 5-7 222 (So) Mifflin (Columbus, OH) 4.0 of 5.0 [Power]

WR Ahmed Fleming 5-11 208 (Sr) Gibsonburg (Gibsonburg, OH) 3.0 of 3.0 [Speed]

CB Jaylin McQueen 5-10 189 Sr Wheaton North (Wheaton, IL) 4.0 of 4.0 [Man Coverage]

    First off the bus:

OG Jeremy Blanchard 6-5 260 Sr Holland Christian (Holland, MI) 3.5 of 3.5 [Run Blocking]

DE Victor Roberson 6-5 262 (Fr) Bentley (Burton MI) 3.5 of 3.5 [Blitz]

    AKRON's strengths

    DE-FENSE (clap, clap) DE-FENSE

Akron boasts one of the MAC's top defenses in rush yards allowed (1st), yards allowed (2nd), pass yards allowed (3rd), and points allowed (4th).  They do it with discipline and swarming tackles and force opposing offenses to string together long drives.

    AKRON's weaknesses

    Third down defense

Despite having one of the top overall defenses in the MAC, Akron has had trouble getting off the field on third down.  They're fourth-worst in the league in opponents' third-down conversion percentage and have allowed the second most conversions overall.

    WESTERN MICHGIAN's strengths

    Run, run, run the ball.

Western Michigan leads the MAC in rushing, rushing TD, yards per carry, and 100-yard games.  Combine this devastating ground attack with Akron's stout rush defense, and we could be in for an all-time showdown.

    WESTERN MICHIGAN's weaknesses

    Edge blitzing

Western Michigan only has one edge player (DE, OLB) with more than one sack on the season.  Offensive tackles have routinely stymied the Broncos' edge-rushing attack and quarterbacks often finish the game with a relatively clean jersey.

    AKRON 23

    MVP: DeSean Madison, RB :wmu:
