McLean With It

Rice QB Eric McLean, taken by the Giants, becomes the 10th #1 overall pick, and is the first from a non-P5 school.

Rocket Men!

Toledo players were the final two picks of the draft, giving them Mr. Irrelevant (SS Isiah Poole) and allowing them to become the school with the most total players taken in the 2023 draft.

Trades. Trades Everywhere

10 of the top 12 picks in the draft were traded, the most notable of which involved the Colts moving up to #3 from #18 where they eventually took Georgia CB/FS Dominique Dawkins.

3rd Round Kicker? I Barely Know Her!

South Dakota State K Harrison Hacker (#69 to the Cardinals) and Cincinnati K TJ Bendbrook (#77 to the Houston Texans) both went in the 3rd round, extending the NFLHC trend of highly selected kickers.

[CFBHC] How should my depth chart be formatted?

Alternative labels can be found below. These are entirely optional but would be read correctly. Each should be after it's main designation above. For example 3rd Down Running Back should be listed after Running Back

  Hide contents

Possible alternative sections that you may add if you want to designate them:

3rd Down Running Back

Slot Wide Receiver

Receiving Tight End - Not available yet, but coming soon!

Blocking Tight End - Not available yet, but coming soon!

Nose Tackle

Will Linebacker

Mike Linebacker
Sam Linebacker

Jack Linebacker

Nickelback

Dimeback

Kickoff Specialist

Gunner - Not available yet, but coming soon!

Jammer - Not available yet, but coming soon!

I am so excited for this!

Just to clarify, how would you put in the alternative labels for linebackers?

For defensive tackles....

If I play a 3-4 and want my 2-gaps to start as the Nose tackle and primary backup, but have a 1-gap that I want to use in nickle and dime situations, would I then list the 1-gap as one of the top 2 DTs and the 2-gaps at nose?  Or does a 3-4 team play a 3-3-5/3-2-6 for nickle and dime situations?

3-4 teams typically run 3-3-5 or 2-4-5. for nickel and 3-2-5 for dime.

So if I want to specify my LBs as Sam, mike, and will do I still list lolb, ilb, rolb and hen most the alternative designations after that?

I assume a Jack LB is kinda like a LB/S hybrid?

No, the Jack is usually used to denote the hybrid DE/OLB position that many modern 3-4s use. Tends to be the bigger OLBs/smaller DEs. Basically the pass rushing LB.

Thanks, Rome.

Also, about Nose Tackle: If I run a 4-3, but I want to distinguish between my Nose and my Under tackle, can I use this designation?

Alternative labels list might be the thing I never knew I needed most

So if I list a slot WR, will the WR3 essentially have the same role that a WR4 would have had a separate slot designation not been made?

Bandit is OLB/SS hybrid in this case.

If we start using the alternate linebacker designations, can we mix and match within reason? For example, can we use a Sam - Mike - Bandit - Jack or a Bandit - Mike - Will - Jack?

To add, do we need to keep it at 4 LBs tops, or, like slot WR and nickle CB, can we assume the Sam, Mike, Will, and Jack will play most of the time with a Bandit rotating in for passing plays?

Also curious about this. Do we list them twice or is Sam/Mike/Will/Jack Sufficient like what @cmcgill did here?

The specialized ones will only apply if you run a formation in your gameplan that uses that player. If you do not run a valid formation they are not used. Everyone MUST designate the normal designations.

With the introduction of the "Bandit", will we see recruits that fit the role?

So the Bandit applies to the 4-3 specifically? Just trying to be claro.

No it applies to defensive secondary schemes that use a bandit. A 4-3 doesn't use a bandit.

So 4-3, for example will never use Jack or Bandit, just Sam, Mike and Will? Just trying to clarify.
