    FCS Week 14 Review

    w9veEqn.jpg?1

All teams in action once again and after these results, the end of the regular season certainly looks interesting with some important games coming up in the next 2 weeks. Individual stat leaders are missing right now but will be updated eventually, just wanted to get this up before I go to France.

Please note: I have based the initial tiebreak of the standings off of the teams H2H record, if this is wrong please let me know so I can correct it for next week but for now I am going under the assumption that its correct.

    Morning

North Dakota (8-2) at Delaware (5-5)

North Dakota secure the win to make the week 17 matchup for the Nickel Trophy a whole lot more interesting. After the slip up by NDSU, Robbie Koehler and Zack McAllister will square off for the number 1 seed.

This loss didn’t hurt Delaware too bad, they were unlikely to catch 5th anyway so the 6th/7th seed is already locked in.

    Afternoon

New Hampshire (1-9) at Northern Iowa (5-5)

Northern Iowa are in the same boat as Delaware, even with this win they won’t catch the 5th seed so they need to win and hope Delaware lose to jump above them in the standings since Delaware won the head to head.

New Hampshire are locked in to the 11th seed with a loss here and will be facing the 6th seed in round 1.

Harvard (2-8) at Youngstown State (4-6)

A nice win for Harvard here as they recorded 3 turnovers and 6! Sacks. The win was probably the most vital this week as they now give themselves a chance to sneak out of the bottom 4 and into a round 1 home game so long as Youngstown lose to Illinois State.

Youngstown could’ve really done with a win here. They decided to bench starting Quarterback McCaffery and that seemed to hurt them a lot. They could now be playing away from home in week 1 of the playoffs and it’ll most likely be a rematch of this game providing some crazy turn of events don’t happen in which Delaware lose and Youngstown beat Illinois State which would cause the Penguins to climb into 7th.

Montana (0-10) at James Madison (7-3)

JMU lock up the number 3 seed with this victory since they lost to both North Dakotas and beat Eastern Washington and Illinois State any combination of results mean JMU enter the playoffs with the number 3 seed. (atleast I think)

Montana scored a good amount of points again (tied 2nd highest on the year) but couldn’t get the elusive victory. Perhaps next week when they travel to Eastern Washington but whatever happens they will be entering the playoffs as the lowest seed.

    Evening

North Dakota State (9-1) at Illinois State (6-4)

Finally, the Redbirds prove that the Bison are human after all. A comfortable win for Illinois State as they dominated the 2nd half of football. Shame we can’t watch game tape in CFBHC because I’d be up all week studying Illinois State’s perfectly executed game plan if I was North Dakota who face NDSU for the number 1 seed in a couple of weeks.

Let’s be real, North Dakota State will bounce back and if anything, this may have given them the wake up call they needed to guard against complacency. Better this happens now than in the playoffs.

    Night

Eastern Washington (6-4) at South Dakota State (2-8)

The Eagles were probably hoping NDSU stayed hot but now things get slightly more interesting for the last game of the season. Providing absolute disaster doesn’t strike for the Eagles by handing Montana their first win of the year then their victory over Illinois State will be enough to keep hold of Home Field Advantage and a round 1 bye.

South Dakota State have looked a lot better since securing a head coach, they may have lost but to only lose by 3 to this deadly Eagles attack is impressive. They won’t be playing at home in round 1 but I wouldn’t like to be the team they travel to face either. Definitely a team to watch.

I would like to not play Eastern Washington in the playoffs. But it looks like if I stay as the 5 seed and beat Montana in the playoffs, then that means I have to go up against Samuel Connor. Again. *gulp*

I'm under the assumption that highest seed always gets the lowest seed so if that is the case then it will require all home teams winning in round 1 to get you in a matchup with Eastern Washington and I think Harvard and South Dakota State could be out to change that so you may escape Connor... for another round anyways

    Edit:

I don't know what i'm talking about, you're right and i'm tired. My bad!

I wish I would have taken over SDSU at the start of the season. But I want to leave on a high note at ISU and I cant leave my team in the shambles that it is in

We'll gladly take you when you're done with the Cyclones!
