[2023] Oregon State Beavers HC Introductory Press Conference

Recommended Posts

(Corvallis, OR) 2023 - Oregon State revealed that coach jc_superman has accepted the offer to become the head coach of the Oregon State Beavers football team.

New head coach jc_superman provided a statement:

"Thank you for taking time out of your day to be here. I want to make a couple of statements and then open the floor for any questions. First and foremost, I would like to thank The Oregon State University for giving me this opportunity. This school has taken a big chance on me with my 0 years of head coaching experience. I believe my coaching philosophy along with my military experience is what this team needs to get to the next level. This team has a .130 winning percentage, in Conference play since 2014 and a .200 Overall winning percentage. I believe my emphasis on hard work will turn these numbers around. My priority will be changing the attitude of the program. I want these kids to leave the Oregon State and be seen as leaders wherever they end up. If there are any questions about me, my philosophy, or our team I will take them now. Thank You!"

"It's about the work, not the result"

Going into this season you are going to be playing with another coach’s players. What kinds of schemes are you expecting to utilize and do you see yourself trying to change it as you get your own guys under you?

I think I can speak for a number of people down in Oregon when I say that something needs to change and we hope you bring that something.

Coach Superman,

What are the challenges that you think you will face as the head coach of the Oregon State Beavers?

And also... could I get your autograph? I mean, you're Superman and all...

I won't mention teams by name and motivate them to play harder against us. However, I see a possible 6-6 record and hopeful for better. It's all going to depend on how hard the team works week to week. Game 1 is going to give us a good gauge on how the season will go so ask me again after our first game :) .

This year will be a transitional year, we're planning on utilizing this team to the best of its ability. There is not a lot of depth but we do have plenty of talent on the team to surprise some people. Our scheme will be a mixture of the scheme I want to implement and the scheme that fits our player talents. One thing is for sure we will be aggressive. I want my players to believe in themselves and in our system.

We hope to bring the fans here at Oregon State some joy when they mention the football team. You're very right, the people of Oregon deserve change for the better.

Coach, welcome to the PAC-12, the Conference of Champions! Oregon State will be better for having you as coach, that is certain.

What are the two main areas for improvement in Recruiting this season, generally? And, what is a reasonable goal for how long it will take to get back to bowl-eligibility?

First of all yes you can get an autograph B) just not now I'm in my new disguise as a coach instead of reporter.

I think coaching in the PAC-12 will be challenging seeing as there are so many experienced coaches with deep teams. Oregon isn't a heavy Croot state and we have to compete against @bingo415 and his Ducks. We have some undeveloped talent and must add depth.

Thank you for the welcome I'm excited to be here in the conference I grew up watching.

We need to fill about 4 key needs and then add depth in just about all other positions. Realistically its going to be a long process to become bowl-eligible. My expectations are to lead the team we have now to a bowl game but in reality I know there will be a growing process. We have to heavily recruit with limited resources then we have to develop these players and get their full potential. Transfers will definitely speed up the process of getting back to bowl-eligibility so we will be very active throughout the year.

Great question I was wondering when it was going to come up. Eli and I sat down and had a talk about where we see the future going. Due to the change of scheme we decided we were going to change things up and thought it would be best for him to transfer to a school to better suit his style. We wish Eli the best of luck and hope his new team is a better fit for his style of play!

Welcome to the :pac: !  I'm really glad to see Oregon State finally have a coach that looks to be a long-term fit, and I look forward to seeing how hard your team plays for you.

Which side of the ball do you feel needs more attention from the coaching staff?

Thanks again for the PAC12 welcome! I hope to be the long term solution this team needed.

In all honesty, last season's defense did not seem on par with the rest of the conference so we want to address putting pressure on the QB. We have several seniors on defense that can help with that issue. Our offense is less experienced so we will pay a little more attention to the offensive side of the ball.

Personally I like the idea. Recruiting across the country should not be as easy as recruiting in your own region since it's more resource intensive.
