Hoosier Daddy?

The last undefeated team in the Big Ten is... Indiana?!?! The Hoosiers went on the road and dominated Wisconsin en route to a 31-17 win.

Wegrets as QBs Wheeled Out For Season

Jets QB Erik Wegert severely ruptured his PCL on TNF, and Titans QB Thomas Wheeler tore his rotator cuff Sunday, significantly hurting the hopes of both teams for 2023.

Horned Frogs SteAMRALled

#6 Oklahoma State took it to TCU, going up 28-7 at halftime and winning 38-14. RB Amral Brown came up huge with 142 rushing yards and 2 TD.

100-yard Curse Blackballed

The Colts hadn't had a 100-yard rushing game since Tony Peaks posted 150 and 2 TD in Week 17 of 2018. 2 games of JB Blacknall later, a 5-year drought is broken.

Catch Or No Catch?

Bengals WR Adrian Jankowski was furious that this catch on MNF didn't count, and it led to a tantrum and fine. Was it a catch? Depends on the perspective.

Coach wrigleyfan:  We are excited to get the season started and can't wait to see Kinnick rocking Saturday afternoon.  Our players have put in a tin of work this offseason are ready to show everyone they are better than last season's team.

When asked who needs to step up for the team to succeed this season:  Everyone.  Listen, we won 2 games last season - we need to have everyone stepping up and contributing for this team to compete and win.  This includes returning starers as well as the new guys looking to step in.  And we are going to find out this week if these guys are ready to take make this leap.

When asked about this week's opponent:  Western Kentucky brings is a solid football team.  They have some really good players on both sides of the ball so it's going to be a challenge for our offense to score and our defense to keep them in check.  Coach @boogyman10 will have his team prepared to come in and compete in a hostile environment and we have to be ready to match their intensity.

When asked about the expectations for his team heading into this season:  To coach and play our asses off and win football games.  Plain and simple. Our expectation for this team - coaches and players - is to prepare and compete week in and week out.  If we do that we will have a successful season.

Kickoff between the Western Hilltoppers and the Iowa Hawkeyes is scheduled for 3:30 EST in Kinnick Stadium.

Coach, to ask an indelicate question, what has been going on in Iowa that has led to this? What are some of the main takeaways that you would give to young coaches to make sure they don’t fall into the same lifestyles your boys chose last year?

Good question. I think for us it was lack of depth. We had some quality players but we also had positions that lacked enough high quality players. That made it harder to complete against the quality teams in the B1G for 4 quarters.  Some of that was due to turnover at the head coach position over the previous seasons.  Some of that is the challenge of recruiting from a state with limited talent.
