Several Broncos players confronted Troy McMurray after QB called out a veteran teammate

Recommended Posts

Several Broncos players apparently weren't too happy with Troy McMurray earlier this week after he called out running back Marshawn Matthison.

Multiple players confronted McMurray at some point after comments he made criticizing Matthison's effort in recent losses. It seems Broncos' players wanted to see the quarterback support Matthison rather than call him out through the media.

Broncos staff can choose a side in the spat, choose one of the following options and apply the results

1) Support the quarterback and call out RB Marshawn Matthison.

QB Troy McMurray 6-2 189 R Stanford [Scrambling] [+1/C] 81

RB Marshawn Matthison 6-0 234 4 NC State [Speed] [-3] 81

DE Deyonte Davis 6-4 265 2 Tennessee State [Blitz] [-2] 86

2) Support the team leaders and call out QB Troy McMurray.

The Denver Broncos are aware of the disagreement that transpired in the locker room at practice today, and have issued the following statement.

"In the midst of a disappointing season, tempers can flare and discussions can become heated. We value players with a natural competitiveness, and sometimes in the heat of the moment, players say things they wish they had not said. Especially young players, like Troy. We support all players working through the process of becoming a professional, and we support all players that react in challenging ways while looking out for a teammate.

Deyonte knows his value to this organization--he proves it every Sunday, and validates the lofty expectations that accompany the Broncos taking a chance on him in the 1st round. We know that Deyonte was looking out for a teammate because he's a great teammate and a great Bronco. We're quite sure that he has what it takes to be a much-loved Captain of this team in the near future, as he is already much-loved by the whole Bronco Nation.

We see immense value in Troy long-term with this team, and we will work with him to find more constructive outlets for his competitiveness than to minimize the efforts of a teammate, especially in the media. He has already improved his attitude greatly since the pre-draft process and now will be an option as a Captain. We will also work with Marshawn, a recent addition to the team, to improve the chemistry between he and Troy, and to improve his ball-handling."

The Broncos choose Option 1, and will work diligently to improve everyone's contentment with the organization, especially Deyonte Davis.

One more small comment: anyone thinking that Deyonte Davis is going to pull a Myles Garrett after being named Man of the Year in 2022 is nuts, and I hope the sim remembers.
