Very interesting that Grandson had 5 of my top 10 songs (All of wich came out during 2019) and was somehow my 3rd favorite artist. I think a lot of that has to do with the relatively limited number of songs (Grandson only has ~20 songs). I don't really think I listened to TOP that much, but rather they were a carryover from 2018.

Also shocked that NF and Witt Lowry don't appear anywhere on either list!

I was pretty surprised that AJR and and Watsky werent in my top 5! I think kindest regards by witt was one of my top songs like two years ago

Dude they are such a kitchen/chore band, lots of fun to sing a long to make mundane tasks seem better. My mom is obsessed and just saw them at a small venue in southwest VA.

I'm so fascinated by all of our collective music tastes, from heavy metal to video game to classical, I think we have the whole spectrum (except I don't see a lot of Jazz, but even I don't like Jazz so whatever.)

My top 5 artists:

1. The 1975

2. AJR

3. Twenty One Pilots

4. Panic! at the Disco

5. Jon Bellion

No surprises here, I freaking love these guys. Special shout-out to Cage the Elephant which I'm sure is #6.

Top 10 songs:

1. Why do you feel so down? - Declan McKenna

2. Cringe - Matt Maeson

3. The Other Side of Paradise - Glass Animals

4. Social Cues - Cage the Elephant

5. The Less I Know The Better - Tame Impala

6. UGH! - The 1975

7. I've Been Waiting - Lil Peep, ILOVEMAKONNEN, Fall Out Boy

8. maybe, i'm afraid - lovelytheband

9. Moby Dick - Jakey

10. Nothing - Millencolin (I don't know how this was 10th, considering there were plenty of other songs I feel like I listened more to)

Pretty surprised that WDYFSD is #1, but when I first heard that song I knew I put that shit on repeat a lot so that's probably why. Can't believe AJR didn't crack the top 10. Don't Throw Out My Legos was 12th, which I definitely listened more to than Nothing, but I guess I can't argue with stats.

And for podcasts I finished the entire back catalog of My Brother, My Brother, and Me as well as The Adventure Zone, and am currently going through The Flop House. I mention this because my total logged time is 53,485 minutes, but 31,000 of those minutes have been podcasts.

Artists of the Decade:

1. Twenty One Pilots (were my #1 artist in 2017-18)

2. AJR

3. Jon Bellion

4. The 1975

5. AWOLNATION

14,442 Total Mins

At the beginning of the year I only used spotify to bang starcult, and then listened to soundcloud otherwise, so that's why they're so high on everything (although I like their music). I'm pretty basic in terms of what I listen to most often, but I listen to a lot of music outside of that too, hence my other genres. My actual favorite song from this year was probably Baby so that one makes sense. RNP is another banger too. I swear I didn't really listen to Tecca that much this year. It makes a lot of sense that Trippie would be my artist of the century, I've only really used spotify for like 3 years off and on, and Trippie has made some of my favorite albums over the past few years (although ! sucked). Uzi is has been my favorite artist since like 2014, but he hasn't really made any music this year, and funnily enough he still made my songs list with an older song anyway.

Artist of the Decade: Logic

So... here's the problem. Every January 1st I make a playlist. This ends up being my yearly playlist. I add one song every single day, so by December 31st I have about 365/366 songs. Some of the top songs that spotify is picking from happen to be songs that were added very early on, especially the Miyagi song and Timecop. I love both of those artists, but I don't think that reflects my music tastes from this year. So, I'm going to put a list of songs that I want to recognize as songs I discovered this year, that I really, really like.

  • Tech Noir - Gunship
  • Honour Among Thieves - Gunship
  • Sunset - The Midnight
  • SGL - Now, Now
  • Aimai - Mamiko Takai
  • The Nomad (Harp Guitar Version) - Calum Graham
  • Возможно - МЫ
  • I Want It All - Coin
  • Superhero Style - EDDI FRONT
  • Time in a Tree - Raleigh Ritchie
  • Acid Rain - Lorn
  • Dance Dance Dance - Earth, Wind, and Fire
  • Нирвана - Elvira T
  • Starlight - Jai Wolf
  • Raspberry Jam - Allah-Las

You know what, I'm just going to link the 2019 playlist here

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2xOPwgUMYkRc1JW6Ob5uhs?si=jYV-7olVSS2OP5x2CdiXkA

Also, @Jamarquan, I'm in a bit of a rush, but here are a list of Russian artists I think you would like:

  • Кино
  • Nautilius Pompilius
  • Elvira T
  • Max Korzh
  • Jah Khalib
  • Timati (maybe)
  • Anna Sedokova (This song isn't on spotify but I like it a lot - it's called Небезопасно)
  • Miyagi
  • Zivert
  • Винтаж
  • Таня Терешина (Tanya Tereshina)
  • МЫ
  • Сюзанна Варнина
  • Мальбек (Malbec) (He and Сюзанна I would call an indie-power couple. They're married, and make a lot of indie music)
  • Murakami
  • Нюша

I should really start putting all the russian songs I like into one playlist...

I'm not exactly sure. Did a quick google of it and it seems like a genre that was recently named.

Looking at the songs on my playlists that match the Spotify vapor soul playlist, I think its slower songs with an EDM instrumental base:

Whethan (Good Nights), NoMBe (Wait) and DROELOE (Sunburn) songs probably give the range of this genre. Somewhat R&B feel.
