[2025] RNN Week 2 NFLHC Power Rankings

    Recommended Posts

Before I post the rankings, I just want to clarify a few things:

    • The only things considered are win-loss records and points for/allowed
    • Your team is weighed very heavily in the pros because schedules are much more uniform and the real difference is injury timing which I cannot account for.
    • SOS still plays a small (10% total) factor and is the deciding factor this early.
    • As per always, when RNN refers to "your opponents", they specifically mean in games your opponents played against other teams. Your games are always factored out.
    • Again we utilize the Pythagorean expectation and it's weighed much heavier than in college as teams are more competitively balanced and blowouts are more meaningful.

    1. PHI - 0.93355

    2. WFT - 0.9322

    3. IND - 0.92485

    4. NYJ - 0.9079

    5. NYG - 0.9004

    6. DET - 0.897

    7. JAX - 0.89485

    8. LAC - 0.88225

    9. CHI - 0.5676

    10. DAL - 0.54785

    11. KC - 0.54395

    12. PIT - 0.53215

    13. MIN - 0.53075

    14. HOU - 0.5277

    15. ATL - 0.524

    16. DEN - 0.51025

    17. TEN - 0.4995

    18. SF - 0.4835

    19. NO - 0.47045

    20. CLE - 0.4677

    21. LAR - 0.46765

    22. SEA - 0.45825

    23. CAR - 0.4494

    24. BAL - 0.38805

    25. NE - 0.118

    26. MIA - 0.10925

    27. CIN - 0.10715

    28. LV - 0.1033

    29. ARI - 0.0883

    30. BUF - 0.0695

    31. GB - 0.0693

    32. TB - 0.06435

As you can see, it's basically just sorting by win-loss record right now and then ranking those buckets. Also, since it's early in the season, the giant leaps in record (0, 0.5, 1) and SOS (same thing) cause more intense swings. The power rankings will get more interesting as the season progresses! Also, the few blowouts we have had also skew things, both for the teams involved and their other opponents'. So if you're unhappy with your position, harass your opponents for being so bad it's dragging you down.

That drop off from 24 to 25.

    Yikes.

It's because win percentage is a major factor an the only buckets are 1.000, 0.5000, and 0.000. Later in the season, when the numbers are less spread out, the other factors will become more influential and you won't see sheer drop offs like that.
