What a dominant defensive performance. We wanted to turn this into a more professional unit that could compete each week. It’s not a championship caliber team, but free agents should be watching what we do this year and how dedicated we are to giving our guys a chance each week. I don’t think there is a team in our division whose future you’d want to have more than ours right now.

One scorigami in this session: Atlanta's 22-7 win over Carolina is surprisingly the first-ever 22-7 NFLHC game. I would have thought 42-39 would be a more difficult score to achieve, but it's not even the first 42-39 game involving the Bears: our 2018 matchup with the Cardinals (the Quincy Turner Game Part 2) ended with that scoreline in our favor. Those are the only two 42-39 games in league history, and the only 42-40 game also was a Bears game--we lost by that margin to Washington late in the 2023 season. (42-41 has never been done, so we have a monopoly on 42 exactly defeating 39-plus).

Mohammed Foster in his last two games has accounted for 856 yards, 10 touchdowns, and zero turnovers while completing 79% of his passes. Today was his second career single-game perfect passer rating, and last week he just missed an additional one with a 155.2. His 82.8% single-game completion percentage is a franchise record, beating out his own 21-26 (80.8%) effort at Minnesota in 2023. Sean Waller's had 288 receiving yards and 3 TD in that span, while Charlie Paul's had 227 and 3. Prior to last week, we had not had two Bears go for 100+ receiving yards in the same game since 2021, and that's now happened twice in a two-game span.

Glenn McCurdy's also the first Bear to have multiple kick return touchdowns in a season, which in this case have come within a three-game span with the first happening against Philadelphia.

Randall Jones's 12 tackles are a single-game franchise record. The only thing worse than your safety making 12 tackles is your safety not making those tackles, so that's...something.

And if he misses any of those tackles or McCurdy doesn't make that play or Foster isn't absolutely electric, we lose this game. We didn't have any answers at all for Joel King and the Cincinnati offense. We knew they were gonna throw the ball all day, and we just couldn't do anything about it once he started rolling. That says a lot about the Bengals' offense, which is top-10 in points per game even though--again--everyone knows they're gonna throw all day. King has had a fantastic season, Jankowski's been one of the best receivers in football, and Spec Davidson had a big throwback game. Fortunately we won't have to face a QB of that caliber next Sunday.

...but only because we're playing Brian Brown on Monday next week. So yeah, lots of work to do to between now and then. But still, glad to be 5-2 at this point in the season.
