Dr_Novella
Back to .500 once more, we may yet have an 8 or more loss team in the playoffs, but not this week! Also, Bronson Willingham continues to be the best rookie in our last draft class. Which is concerning due to who we drafted before hand. But I'll take a later pick putting in good stats for us! stormstopper
Safe to say we have not been a clutch team for the most part. We're -22 in the fourth quarter this year; our second-worst quarter is the third at +17. We had lost our previous 7 OT games before this one dating back to 2020. Mohammed Foster had actually not won an overtime game since at least high school. So to be able to bounce back from giving up a go-ahead field goal with 44 seconds left and get in position for Chamblin to redeem himself and then to execute perfectly in overtime to win a game we had to have is very nice to see. Also Ezekiel Williams Jr. is the first Bear ever with a sack and a pick-six in the same game. He's also the first Bear with back-to-back 10-sack seasons, and his 14 TFL this year matches the franchise single-season record he set last season. Mohammed Foster's up to 3596 passing yards, which is his highest mark in any season; his 20 passing TDs is tied with the 20 he threw in 2023. Sean Waller is our first 1000-yard receiver in the Foster era (the last 1000-yard receiver overall was Donnie Allen). We've clinched our third straight and fourth overall winning season. There's a lot we didn't do as well as we'd like today, but we got out with a win. On to Pittsburgh. - A bit of a come-down-to-earth game for the red-hot Troy McMurray. I realize you aren't supposed to do the "if you take out that one play"-type of analysis, but outside of the 66-yard touchdown pass to J.C. Weldon his passer rating was 39.0, or slightly below the 39.6 you get for spiking it in the dirt every play. The fact that Miami won anyway should be encouraging for them, because they showed the defense and run game that typically complements scramblers on contending teams. They stay alive another week. Atlanta has obviously already wrapped up the division, but I've got them falling from projected #2 to #3 in the NFC. I don't think that's a huge difference though, or at least the wild card spots are too in flux to tell who they'd face. Bengals and Browns both showed a lot of fight. I didn't realize the Chargers were going to try Nick Carr, but Chacko's been pretty bad and I can see why the Washington game would be the last straw. Unfortunately they might not really have much choice but to try to win with him this year. A bit ironic given how he was in Nick Carr's position in Detroit recently. And speaking of Detroit: 8 turnovers against 4 scoring plays in that one. The Lions' defense really needed to step up in a game like that, and they did. As they say: if you don't like that, you don't like NFC North football. Tough break for the Packers though. They're almost certainly a playoff team--if not the favorite to win the NFC North--if Johnson's healthy all year instead of missing half of it. Gotta appreciate Artavius Hopkins trying to put the entire team on his back. It'll be interesting to see what Green Bay does: try to fit Will Thompson or Cooper Spillman into their current gameplan, sign a QB off the street, claim someone off of waivers, or just run the entire offense through JWJ. Or some combination of the above. Meanwhile the AFC North is now tilted back on the side of the division winner having a winning record. Not too much to say about Colts over Niners, but the Colts' magic number for clinching a playoff berth is down to 1. San Francisco is two losses back of a playoff spot with three games to go, so... Big story in Philly is Dontarrious Foster having a much better time out than he did the first time, to the point where I'd assume he's the guy for the rest of the season. They needed every bit of it, and they're hanging onto playoff contention with everything they've got. All Foster's gotta do now is...duel with Ryan Harris, Tanner Bowman, and Eric McLean in succession. Not too much to say about Seattle-Tampa, but Tucker Dowden couldn't even put up 400 passing yards or even a 150 passer rating so he's lucky the defense held them to 13 points. Seattle's still on the right side of the cut line. Love to see Leonard England having an incredible year: this is his 4th highest-grade performance of the season, making him one of just 12 players to hit that mark so far. I believe he's the only rookie in that group as well. Todd, Dacder, cultur3 and 11 others 13
D Stack
This win snaps a 5 game losing streak since Allan Taylor's season ending injury. Back to .500 and some positives in this game (rookies Foster and Shapiro being the most surprising), but still plenty to figure out heading into the off season. This has been a cursed season, and a playoff appearance is looking very unlikely with our remaining schedule; but we'll take every opportunity to evaluate the roster for the future. On one hand Atlanta has arguably one of the best defenses in the league. Going into this game they lead the league in interceptions, they were 2nd in points allowed per game, and were top 5 in a slew of other categories. On the other hand you definitely want to see something better than this. In the end I've kind of landed in the middle. Obviously would prefer a better game, but the turnovers were limited to just 1 and that's a pretty big win from early in the season. I can't tell you how many games I feel we lost because our beginning of season QBs would turn the ball over 3 or so times in a close game. bingo415 and Sarge 1

CadeRich5
My takeaways: We lost Whitlock last week, a key vet starting LG, and thus, Skaggs got roughed up. Full strength, it might be a different story when it comes to the offensive side of the ball. Skaggs certainly has a tough time getting a good ball to our best guys when he doesn't have time to throw. Josiah Benton has played well, but it's undeniable that we need more dudes on defense. Late in games and late in the season, we're worn down and unmotivated to finish games. Great game Bears!
