Aaron Shea (born October 27, 1996) is an American football Quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. He played college football at Missouri. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him in the 1st pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Contract Info

Following the 5th Year Option on his Rookie Deal, Shea signed a 5 Year, 125 Million Deal with 88% Guaranteed. This deal expires after the 2027 Season.

2018 Season

After being drafted #1 Overall, Shea was immediately listed as the starting Quarterback. He got off to a very hot start and only cooled late in the season when Mosi Bartos had his season ended with a Thigh Injury. He finished Top 10 among all Quarterbacks in:

  • Completion % (10th)
  • Passing Yards (6th)
  • Passing Touchdowns (7th)
  • Quarterback Rating (8th)

He was also named as the Offensive Rookie of the Year and the Pepsi Rookie of the Year.


He was 1 of 3 Rookies named to the AFC Pro Bowl Squad, the other two being Ron Thomas and Patrick Murphy.

He set Franchise Records for:

  • Most Passing Yards in a Season
  • Most Passing Touchdowns in a Season
  • Most Passing Attempts in a Season
  • Most Passing Completions in a Season

2019 Season

Following Tony Peaks' season ending ACL injury in the Pre-Season. Shea was tasked with being the main playmaker in the offense. Shea broke his own franchise records set in |2018.

In Week 12, he passed Greg Bierria as the leading Touchdown Passer in Colts History. He threw 3 Touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins which brought his career total to 61, passing Bierria's 58.

In Week 17, Shea injured his thumb and would miss the rest of the season. Greg Bierria would start for the Colts in the Playoffs.
