The Air Force–Hawaii football rivalry is a CFBHC rivalry between the Air Force Falcons and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. The trophy is named after Air Force General Laurence S. Kuter, who was appointed the first head of the Pacific Air Forces Command (located at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu) in 1957. The Kuter Trophy is awarded to the winner of the game. The two teams met in the inaugural conference game of the CFBHC American Athletic Conference. In 2019 the two met for the first time as Mountain West Conference members. As the schools play in opposite divisions, the series will not be annual. As of 2019 the road team has won all three meetings.

History

The General Laurence S. Kuter Trophy, named after the first PACAF commander, is a striking tribute to the friendship between the University of Hawaii and the Air Force Academy, and to the cooperation between the people of Hawaii and the Air Force. It was conceived by the University of Hawaii, sponsored by the Pacific Air Command, and designed by the Air Force Academy. 1
