History

2014 Season

Army started the season 0-4 with coach NoFlyZone, before yielding the job over to Carpe Pullum. The new coach rallied to a 2-2 start, but faltered in the second half of his tenure, with the Black Knights scoring 13 points in four games and getting shut out by BYU and UCLA. At the end of the season, Pullum resigned.

2015 Season

With no head coach to begin the season, Army began the season 0-7, scoring only more than seven points in one game, a 61-14 loss to Michigan. In the middle of the year, new head coach TheWritingWaffle came in before the game with Cincinnati, promoting an idea of positivity with "Operation 5-7" shirts for the players. When asked about it, TheWritingWaffle said "We may not be able to make a bowl, but we still have plenty of games to win, including Navy."

TheWritingWaffle's tenure began with a 23-20 victory over Cincinnati, then a 35-14 rout over then-#21 Hawaii. Then, despite a two-interception performance from sophomore quarterback Adam Stave, the Black Knights picked up their third victory in TheWritingWaffle's tenure, using its defense to hold off Wake Forest in a 9-6 game.

After losing to 20-14 to eventual playoff qualifier BYU, the Black Knights ended the season with a 24-14 victory over the Midshipmen, gaining their first victory in the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy series. In fact, the Black Knights' 24 points were more than their first three games against Air Force and Navy combined; Army mustered just 19 points total in those games.
