Bryce Thompson (born June 2, 2001) is an American football Quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at Duke. The Minnesota Vikings drafted him in the 2nd round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Early Years

Thompson attended West Monroe High School in Monroe, Louisiana. Along with Kyle Jefferson, Thompson was one of the top QBs in his class.

Professional Career

Draft

Thompsons potential headed into the draft is limitless, he won the Heisman Trophy his senior year and considered by many of the league to be a project Quarterback with a high ceiling for growth. While many teams were impressed with Thompsons collegiate numbers the Cleveland Browns in need of a QB took Zach Lombardi as the first QB off the board. Thompson instead got drafted day 2 by the Minnesota Vikings with the 39th overall pick and the 3rd QB taken in the draft.

2024 Season

Thompson's arrival sparks much excited for Minnesota fans, his mobility during preseason allowed the Vikings to experiment around with new gameplan options that was not possible with Brian Vardell. The 2024 preseason gave Thompson the taste of his future starting position as the Vikings expect him to take this year to learn behind their veteran QB.

During Week 10 Thompson got called into playing when starting vetran QB Brian Vardell suffered a wrist sprain in the 4th Quarter and was unable to return. In his first regular season game Thompson threw for 89 yards off 8 completitions with 2 interceptions in a loss against the winless Arizona Cardinals.

Although Vardell's injury was not major Thompson was called to start the rest of the 2024 NFLHC season and become the future quarterback of the franchise.
