Casey Swann is an American football tight end for the Arizona Cardinals. He played college football at Miami (OH).

Personal Life

Early Life

Swann enjoyed his youth playing quarterback in his youth football programs growing up in Omaha, Nebraska. During middle school his family briefly moved to Oxford, Ohio, where Swann began playing wide receiver since the coaches' son played QB. When his family moved back to Omaha during his sophomore year of high school, Swann found himself too big to play wide receiver at Burke High School, but became a highlight reel at tight end on the JV team. Swann continued to flash his incredible hands as the starting TE for Burke in his junior year.

College Career

Swann committed to Miami (OH), allowing him to return to Oxford, Ohio, where his middle school quarterback would also be his college roommate.

Swann redshirted during his freshman year in 2018, and then was 3rd on the tight end depth chart in 2019, behind juniors Matthew Lorenzo and Makai Horne.

Swann broke out as a redshirt sophomore, winning the starting tight end job at Miami and excelling so well that he brought home the John Mackey Award, the nation's award for the top tight end.

Professional Career

Draft

Despite his tremendous collegiate accolades, including the Mackey Award, Swann went undrafted, with many scouts concerned about the level of talent he'd faced in the MAC having possibly inflated Swann's stats, along with the benefit of playing with NFL draftee Zach Cera.

Arizona Cardinals

Despite going undrafted, the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons bid on Swann's services, but he elected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent, signing a 3-year, $1.8M contract, with $800k coming in guaranteed money in year one.

2023 Season

Despite a poor preseason showing in which Swann failed to make a statsheet despite being given plenty of opportunity, Swann shockingly found himself on the Cardinals initial 53-man roster, behind starter Noah Hills, and blocking TEs Emanuelu Lesa and James Ware.
