He received many scholarship offers for both football and baseball, and was selected with the 140th pick in the 5th round of the 2009 MLB draft. He elected to attend Florida State on a football scholarship, thus ending his baseball career.

College Career

Christian Skaggs attended Florida State for 4 years.

Skaggs did not play full time for FSU until his senior season where he emerged as college footballs best quarterback and cemented himself as a top draft prospect.

Throughout his senior season Skaggs showed off the ability to take over and dominate games. He exhibited fantastic intelligence on the football field and threw only a single pick during the entire season whilst also throwing for over 3000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Skaggs was judged as the best college quarterback in 2013 and was a consideration for the heisman trophy but ultimately lost out to Allan Taylor of Virginia Tech but did win the Davey O'Brien award.

Skaggs graduated with a degree in public relations.

Skaggs was viewed by many as the best Quarterback and overall prospect in the 2014 NFLHC Draft. Jason Johnson and Allan Taylor were the other top quarterbacks available and all three prospects were expected to be taken in the first 3 selections. Skaggs production during his senior season along with his command of the Quarterback position lead many analysts to label him as a 'can't miss' prospect and he was expected to be a future perennial pro bowler and elite player.

Draft

With the first pick in the draft the Carolina Panthers selected Skaggs, making him the first pick in NFLHC history.
