History
AthensDawg and TopGoose Era (2014)
AthensDawg was confident that he could turn the Cincinnati football program around, but was greatly mistaken. He resigned from the club after only 8 games. TopGoose coached the team for the last 4 games on an interim basis. He did not return.
mrthespork Era (2015)
After a dysfunctional season, mrthespork was hired to bring stability. That ended up not being the case, as he left the team after starting off 1-8. Fans and media alike were becoming greatly discouraged and attendance at Nippert Stadium reached record lows.
WhoDey17 Era (2015-2017)
After mrthespork resigned from the team, WhoDey17 was hired as the interim coach. Cincinnati shocked the conference by going 2-1 in the team's last 3 games. After being impressed with how WhoDey17 handled the team in the team's final 3 games, Cincinnati's athletic director decided to sign him to a long-term contract. Media members across the country approved of the AD's decision.
The 2016 season ended up being a tremendous success. The team came out firing on all cylinders, and the team ended the season bowl-eligible with a 10-2 record. Unfortunately, the team ended up facing a terrific Stanford team in the Gilden New Mexico Bowl and lost 7-14. Despite a disappointing ending to the season, everyone involved with the program felt hopeful for the future.
Their hope quickly dried up, as the team finished 1-11 the next season. WhoDey17 and the AD mutually agreed to part ways following the season. Players and fans were left heartbroken, since they felt as if the team had to start from scratch once again, but they ultimately understood the decision.
Mpost5 Era (2018)
Mpost5 was hired after a lengthy hiring process. At his press conference, he stated that his goal was to bring back the momentum from the 2016 season. This might have put too much pressure on himself, as he finished the season with no wins and resigned after 11 games. The coach Rome was hired to coach the last game.
Rome Era (2019-2020)
The AD decided that he wanted continuity, so Rome was extended for the upcoming seasons. Rome urged fans to be patient and stated that it would take a while before the program became good again. He expected that the 2019 season would not end up being a winning one, but he promised progress. The team finished the season 2-10. After dealing with so many coaches leaving after 1 season, the program was finally able to feel somewhat hopeful.
Rome did not start the 2020 season well, after starting off 3-6, so he made the decision to re-sign. Even after urging patience, Rome stated that he felt that the task at hand was just too difficult.
YEEZY Era (2022-2022)
The program made it clear that they were targeting youth in their hiring process for the upcoming 2022 season. The process ended quickly, as YEEZY blew them away in interviews. In his introductory press conference, YEEZY pleaded patience once again, stating that the team would have to be rebuilt through recruiting. They would bypass short-term moves like recruiting JUCO and transfer recruits in order to replenish the team's roster. He ended the conference by urging young Ohio football players to stay in-state and help build a powerhouse in Cincinnati. Unfortunatly, Coach YEEZY never showed up on campus after his initial press conference.
Lrickar1 Era (2022-current)
In Cincinnati's search for yet another coach became desperate, they turned their attention to former Ball State coach Lrickar1. Lrickar1 accepted the offer for the head coach position shortly after the 2022 season had begun. After a 0-2 start prior to lrickar1's arrival, the Bearcats won 5 of the next 10 games to finish 2022 5-7. The 2023 season saw the Bearcats to a 6-6 regular season record and their first bowl victory in the Bahamas Bowl.
