Professional career

Pre-draft

Koenig was considered a borderline draftable prospect but due to his lanky stature was expected to go undrafted.

Draft

Koenig was selected with the 254th overall pick of the 2017 NFLHC Draft by the New York Jets.

2017 Season

Koenig and Daniel Scott were the only two FS on the roster, and Scott won the starting job in preseason.

The highlight of the season for Koenig was the Jets' Week 14 game against the Miami Dolphins. Koenig blocked a field goal attempt by the Dolphins in the 3rd quarter in a game which the Jets ended up winning in overtime, ending the Dolphins' bid at an undefeated year.

The Jets released him following the season.
