Derrick Barber is currently the Offensive Coordinator of the University of Virginia football team.

Early years
Barber grew up in Virginia and committed to the Virginia Cavaliers during his Junior Year of High School. He attended Radford High School in Radford, Virginia.
College Career
Barber was the starting QB for the Cavaliers during 2014Season. That season the Cavaliers finished the regular season at 7-5 and earned a spot in the Russell Athletic Bowl against Houston. They won that game after a potential game-winning FG was missed by the Cougars as time expired. He was teammates with Chad Dess, Preston Gill, and Mike Taylor who were all eventually drafted into the NFLHC. Following the 2014 Season, he was the backup to Bob Dowler, a transfer from heated rival Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers finished the season 5-7.

College Education
Barber received degrees in Finance and French. He graduated with a 3.87 GPA. He graduated in December of his Senior Year.
Post-College Career
Following his Senior Year in 2015. Barber decided to end his Football Playing Career. He was initially employed at a local financial institution in his hometown of Radford, when he received a call from Head Coach npklemm. Coach npklemm was interested in hiring a new Offensive Coordinator and wanted to interview Barber. After a couple rounds of interviews, Coach npklemm decided that Barber was the best candidate and hired him to the position. Barber accepted the position because it brought him back to UVA and allowed him to be involved with Football.
