Edward James "E.J." McGuire is the starting quarterback for the Northwestern Wildcats. McGuire was named starting QB as a True Freshman and enters his Senior season as a four year starting QB. The 2021 season showed that everything has started to click for McGuire as he had a career year and led the Wildcats to the Pinstripe Bowl. McGuire will be looking to build off his success as he prepares to enter the NFL Draft. In his final regular season start, McGuire led the Wildcats to a 24-20 victory over in-state rival, Illinois. The win was McGuire's first victory against Illinois and earned Northwestern the Land of Lincoln Trophy for the first time since 2018. The victory also pushed Northwestern to bowl eligibility in back-to-back seasons.
Early Years
