Early Years
Shields attended Owendale-Gagetown High School in Owendale, Michigan. He was the leading rusher in the state of Michigan during his senior year and was a finalist for the Michigan Mr. Football award. He ranked as the 11th-best running back prospect in the 2016 class (2nd in the Central region).
