Draft
Seaverns was selected with the 7th overall pick of the 2015 NFLHC Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was the second cornerback selected.
Cincinnati Bengals
Seaverns excelled in his rookie season in which he made the Pro Bowl. He only had 3 interceptions but his help against the run was noticed. Seaverns quickly became one of the top cornerbacks in the league. He had 17 interceptions in his first four seasons, a touchdown in each season, and some believed he was the best cornerback in run defense based on his ability to get tackles. He made the Pro Bowl for a third time in 2018 after a career high 7 interceptions. His performance began to dip in the 2019 season. The Bengals had one of the worst pass defenses and Seaverns took part of the blame. The Bengals did sign him to a 4 year, $48 million extension in the middle of the season but decided to trade him at the end of the season.
Buffalo Bills
Seaverns was traded to the Bills. Seaverns was traded for a 2020 1st round pick which became CB Blake Turner, a 2021 5th round pick, and a 2020 7th round pick. Seaverns stay with the Bills was short-lived as he was moved to the Texans after week 6. Seaverns did have an impact on the Bills, being defensive player of the week in week 4 after having a 2 interception, 2 TD game.
Houston Texans
The Texans focused on a win-now strategy brought in Seaverns in a very large blockbuster trade. The Bills traded Seaverns, DT Kendall Hill, and a 7th round pick for a 2021 1st round pick which became CB Sean Taylor, a 2022 1st round pick which became C Xavier Cuellar, a 5th round pick, a 6th round pick, a 7th round pick, KR Rickie Baird, WR Gordon Kleinsasser, WR Billy Rodgers, DT Nathan Knowlton, OLB Chester Williams, and CB Antonio Hotchkiss. Seaverns went on to have 2 interceptions for the Texans and once again traded at the end of the season.
Carolina Panthers
Seaverns was moved in three blockbuster trades between the 2020 offseason and the 2021 offseason. This time he was traded to the Panthers, along with SS Darren Manning, OLB Jeff Brooks, a 3rd round pick, and a 7th round pick for the 30th overall pick which became WR Hakeem Black, TE Kelly Littleton, OLB Andre Gasaway, CB Jim Milloy, and SS Frederick Fain. Seaverns struggled with the Panthers, not recording an interception in the 2021 season. He was able to get 3 in the 2022 season. Seaverns was scheduled to enter free agency at the end of season but decided to retire instead.
