Jake Schmidt is an American football Tight End for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played college football at Ohio State. The Denver Broncos selected him in the 6th round of the 2016 NFLHC draft, 146th overall.

College Career

Jake Schmidt attended Ohio State for 5 years, redshirting his freshman year. He was the starter for the Buckeyes from the 2013 season when he was a redshirt sophomore.

Professional Career

Schmidt was projected to be a late round draft pick due to teams not seeing value in the tight end position, he was selected by the Broncos in the 6th round, 146th overall. He was the 4th TE taken in the draft.

He entered free agency after the 2017 season, and Pittsburgh signed him to a 2 year, 36 million contract.
