Joel Siegel (born August 18, 1998) is an American football oustide linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals. He played college football for Wisconsin.

Personal Life

Siegel was a 4-year varsity starter at Muskegon High School in Muskegon, Michigan. He played tight end during his freshman and sophomore years, but switched over to middle linebacker during his junior and senior years. Siegel was named team captain both years he played defense for Muskegon HS.

Recruiting

Despite playing middle linebacker at Muskegon High, college scouts preferred him to play outside linebacker at the next level.

Siegel's recruitment lasted longer than expected, with him turning down immediate playing time at Cincinnati and the opportunity to stay in state at Michigan State, instead choosing to cross Lake Michigan to play at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

College Career

Siegel spent all four years at Wisconsin working on a degree in Nutritional Sciences. Following his 2020 season, he graduated early after the fall semester.

2019 Season

Siegel was named 1st-Team All-Big Ten after a season in which he recorded 49 tackles and 5.0 sacks.

Professional Career

Siegel went undrafted in the 2021 NFLHC Draft.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins signed Siegel as a priority UDFA to a 2-year contract.

Siegel was waived to the practice squad following the 2021 preseason. In Week 3, he was promoted to the active roster. A few weeks later, he was waived again, ending his time with the Dolphins

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders claimed Siegel off waivers from Miami. Siegel spent much of his time inactive during gamedays in Vegas.

In 2022, Siegel was waived to the practice squad, where he spent the entirety of the season.

The Raiders did not extend his contract following the 2022 season, making Siegel an unrestricted free agent.

Arizona Cardinals

Following the 2023 NFLHC Draft, Siegel signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals, who had not drafted any outside linebackers. Siegel was brought in as a camp body to compete for the OLB4 spot with Edgar Young.
