Draft
Draft analysts ranked Kareem Taylor as a first round pick in the inaugural 2014 NFLHC draft. Taylor was the 5th QB taken when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him with the 14th overall pick.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Kareem Taylor was impressive for the Jaguars despite ending with a 3-8 record. He was selected for the 2014 Pro Bowl.
New Orleans Saints
Before the 2015 season, Kareem Taylor was traded to the New Orleans Saints for Allan Taylor, who was the #3 overall pick in the 2014 NFLHC draft. Taylor struggled in the new environment, ending the season with the third worst QB rating for a starting QB in the league. After his disappointing 2015 season, the New Orleans Saints selected Aaron Deveraeux with the #9 pick in the 2016 NFLHC Draft. After the draft, Taylor became the backup QB and was placed on the trade block. He spent the 2016 season on the bench.
Tennessee Titans
During the 2017 offseason, Kareem was traded to expansion team Tennessee Titans for the #33rd pick in the 2017 NFLHC Draft. Kareem struggled at the beginning of the season passing for 232 yards per game with 11 TD and 7 INTs in the first seven games. After Jim Otto's career-ending injury in week 7 on Monday Night Football, Taylor passed for 244 yards per game with 15 TD and 2 INTs. Kareem Taylor stated that Jim Otto's story inspired him to play to his potential because any game could be your last. Taylor finished 2nd in the Comeback Player of the Year award which was awarded to Jason Johnson. The Tennessee Titans used a 1 year, $11 million transition tag to retain Taylor for the 2018 season. Taylor had a decent 2018 season but the Titans were not willing to give him a long term extension. Kareem hit free agency but received little interest. He signed back with the Titans on a 1 year, $8 million contract, less than their offer during the season. In 2019, the Titans were plagued with injuries, especially at WR, losing their two best receivers in Tommy Furrey and Cap Christian. Taylor and the team struggled heavily, finishing 1-15. The Titans parted ways with Taylor after the season.
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals signed Kareem to a 2 year, $20 million deal in free agency to be their starting quarterback. He would start the first 9 games of the season before being replaced by Rory Weston. Kareem would remain as a backup in 2021 before testing free agency again in 2022.
Tennessee Titans
After losing backup QB Bobby Kolodziej for the season due to a foot fracture, the Titans decided to bring back Kareem Taylor as a backup to Thomas Wheeler. Taylor was welcomed back by Titans fans, ignoring the 2019 season. The Raiders and the Giants were also interested in Taylor in a backup role but the Titans offered slightly more. Taylor was impressive in very limited action, throwing for 120 yards and 2 TDs on 16 attempts.
