Professional career

Draft

Prior to the 2016 NFLHC Draft Banks was invited to the combine. At the combine, Banks had the longest broad jump (10-4) of all the receivers, which was good for second longest in the entire combine. His 4.57 forty raised a few flags with some teams, but his reliable hands led some teams to believe he could be an excellent slot receiver.

2016 Season

Marcus Banks was drafted in the 4th round, 101 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. He immediately became the Dolphins #2 receiver upon signing his rookie contract. The Dolphins decided not to protect Banks prior to the 2017 NFLHC Expansion Draft making him the highest rated Wide Receiver available.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals selected Banks with their first round pick in the 2017 NFLHC Expansion Draft. Banks was the first receiver to join the team, immediately becoming the Cardinals #1 receiver. In the first week of the 2017 season, Banks caught the first ever pass from Jarius Jones. On the same drive, he also caught Jones' first touchdown pass when they connected from 10 yards out. Banks was having a solid first season as the Cardinals primary receiver before suffering a season ending injury against the Chicago Bears. Banks suffered an ACL Tear after landing awkwardly on an attempted catch. Following the game he was placed on season ending Injured Reserve. He finished the season with 59 receptions, 769 yards and 4 Touchdowns.

During the 2022 mid-season re-sign phase, Banks, having collected enough stats to rank #1 in most Cardinals receiving categories, was signed to a 3 year, 24 million dollar extension locking him up through 2025, with 16 million guaranteed.

Detroit Lions

Following a slow start for the winless Cardinals and having a slight decline in production, Banks was traded to the Detroit Lions prior to the 2024 Trade deadline, with the Cardinals receiving WR/KR Artemio Ramirez, the Lions 2025 4th round selection, and the Lions 2026 7th round selection.
