Matt Cole is the current starting center for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at USC. The Washington Redskins selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NFLHC Draft.

College Career

Cole attended USC for five years. He was redshirted by the team in junior season. He was the Trojans' starting center in 2016 and 2017, replacing Sid Henson.

2013 Season

Cole held the backup center job, behind Sid Henson, the team's star center.

2014 Season

Cole continued to work on honing his skills, while backing up Henson. Cole has said that Henson played an integral role in his development as a player.

2015 Season

During the 2015 season, Cole was redshirted.

2016 Season

After playing a backup role his entire college career, Cole was finally named the team's starting center. Henson graduated and entered the NFL Draft, freeing up the position for Cole.

2017 Season

In Matt Cole's second season as a starter, he began gaining recognition for his ability to control the trenches, fending off opposing lineman with impressive ferocity. He was named to the All Pac-12 team. Cole also received national praise, becoming an All-American in his final season.


Professional Career

Pre-draft

Cole was considered one of the best prospects at the center position to ever enter the NFLHC Draft. He was a clear-cut notch above the rest in his class.
