History
Dean_Craig_Pelton era (2018-2019)
Coach Pelton left Ohio State for the Monarchs when they were first formed in 2018. Dean_Craig_Pelton had some success with the Monarchs but ultimately left after two seasons.
KakesuSora era (2020)
KakesuSora impressed in his first season as a coach leading the Monarchs to their only bowl game and finishing 6-2 in the C-USA. The team started the season 1-5 but was able to rally to a 6-6 season record. This led to him being named C-USA Coach of the Year for 2020. However, KakesuSora did not return for the 2021 season and was replaced by TheTacoOfDoom.
TheTacoOfDoom era (2021-2023)
TheTacoOfDoom took over the Monarchs partway through the 2021 season. Offensive struggles marred their season as they ended 4-8. The 2022 season started on a bad foot, with the Monarchs losing the first 3 games of the season, including 17-28 loss to conference foe FAU. However the team was not deterred, and bounced back strong with a 56-20 blowout win over rival Marshall, thanks in large part to excellent special teams play. They went on to win the next two game, before dropping a close game to North Texas. A win over the eventual CUSA East champs highlighted the following week. Their last loss of the season came against CUSA powerhouse Rice. They won 3 straight games after that, including a bowl win against ULL, their first ever bowl win.
TheTacoofDoom announced he was stepping down from the position as Head Coach, effective immediately, citing personal concerns after Week #11 game.
kwheele era (2023)
After the sudden departure of the previous coach, kwheele was tasked to take over and continue building the ODU Monarch football program in a positive direction. After finishing 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference coach, kwheele was hired by Air Force.
elee33 era (2024-present)
Old Dominion Hired coach elee33 in hopes of winning the Conference-USA title and winning the National Championship.
