High school career
Jackson attended Stanley Community in Stanley, North Dakota where he played football and ran track. He grew up playing sports from a young age.
Recruitment
During a successful senior high school season, Jackson was approached by Air Force head coach DescretoBurrito about attending Air Force on a football scholarship. Jackson accepted without waiting for any offers to come in from other schools.

College career
He played football for the Air Force Falcons in college, and was a four year starter playing in all 53 games for Air Force during his time at The Academy. He finished with a degree in English
2014 Season
Jackson started every single game in 2014. He recorded his first career interception in week 11 against Army.
2015 Season
In his sophomore season, Jackson once again started every game. Against Colorado State in week 13, Jackson delivered a hard hit and was taken out of the game with a slight concussion.
2016 Season
Jackson was selected to the Preseason All MWC First Team his junior year. Against San Diego State in week 13, Jackson returned an interception to the end zone in the fourth quarter, leading to an Air Force victory after being down by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter. For his efforts against the Aztecs, Jackson won his first MWC Defensive Player of the Week award.
2017 Season
There was much attention that Jackson may head to the draft early as a junior, but he ultimately chose to return to the academy. He was named a defensive captain of the team, and was once against selected to the Preseason All MWC First Team. and selected as First Team All-MWC. Against Purdue in week 2, Jackson recorded a career high 9 tackles. Air Force won the MWC title, and Jackson played a big part with 7 tackles in the game.

Professional Career
Pre-Draft
Before the combine, Jackson was considered the second best free safety prospect for the draft, behind of Darius Jones of Washington. During the 2018 NFLHC Combine, Jackson was one of eight free safeties invited. However, he had a pretty poor showing which hurt his draft stock. He earned private workouts with the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and Seattle Seahawks.

Draft
Jackson was drafted in the second round, with the 46th overall pick, by the St. Louis Rams in the 2018 NFLHC Draft. Jackson was the third free safety taken in this draft. Jackson signed a 4 year, $11 million deal.
