- October 9 - The 2021 NHLHC season begins, with the Detroit Red Wings defeating the Stanley Cup defending champion Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2.
- October 1 - The 2021 NHLHC Season schedule is released.
- August 1 - The 2021 NHLHC Entry Draft begins. Defenceman Tyler Neiley is chosen first overall by the Dallas Stars.
