Professional career
Pre-draft
The 2015 draft class had some talented defensive tackles in Frank Williams, Earl Jackson, Bob Ballard, Fred Romanowski, and Je'Rod Wimbush. Moore was thought to be near the top of the class with Frank Williams and Earl Jackson. Although Moore lacked production at LSU, his size at 6'7" and 307 pounds was impressive. He disappointed at the combine, having the least bench press reps of the ten defensive tackles that participated. Moore also played in the Senior Bowl where he was coached by Franz Kafka.

Draft
Moore was selected in the early 2nd round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2015 NFLHC Draft. He was the second defensive tackle taken, behind Frank Williams.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Moore had an immediate impact for the Jaguars making the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons. He was more known for being able to reset the line of scrimmage and stop the run than rushing the passer but he developed into a better pass rusher in the next few seasons, having 17.0 sacks combined in 2018 and 2019. The Jaguars traded Rich Moore to the New England Patriots for a 2nd round pick, used to select outside linebacker Damien Norman.
New England Patriots
Moore spent three seasons with the Patriots where he was a solid starter but did not return to the Pro Bowl. After the 2022 season, Moore announced his retirement from the NFLHC.
