The Jets selected Johnston with the 175th pick of the 2015 NFLHC Draft.
New York Jets
Johnston was the starting center for the Jets, replacing 2014 Pro Bowler Spencer Flutie who left in the 2015 NFLHC Expansion Draft. Johnston continued as the Jets starter in his second season
Kansas City Chiefs
Johnston was traded to Kansas City in the 2017 offseason in order for the Jets to move up in the 3rd round. Johnston served as the starting center for the Chiefs for one season before being traded to Tennessee in a deal involing Angelo Huddleston and Cap Christian.
Tennessee Titans
Johnston has been the starting center for the Titans since 2018.
