High school career
Lewis did not start at RB in high school, but actually started at WR. He had a decent high school career but was not highly coveted.
Recruitment
Lewis received a couple D-II offers but ultimately decided to walk on at Pitt.
College career
2014 Season
Lewis served as the backup to RB Dale Clemens. Lewis impressed the coaches enough to get a little playing time but ultimately, he did not see much of the field.
2015 Season
Despite the recruitment of top 100 prospect Rodrigo Rogers, Lewis got the start for Pitt to begin the season. He had a good start, but after a fumble Pitt's coaches decided to bench him for Rogers. Fortunately for Lewis, Rogers struggled heavily, including a game in which he rushed for under 1.5 YPC, so Lewis got the starting job back. He finished the year solidly, setting Pitt records for TD rushes and YPC.
2016 Season
Coach Jumbo decided to redshirt Rogers for this season, leaving Lewis as the starting runningback for the year. Lewis caught Luke Williams's first career touchdown pass in Pitt's week one game against Fresno State.
