Sam James is an American professional ice hockey player who plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). James was the 82nd overall selection in the 2020 NHLHC Draft and the sixth player selected by the Nashville Predators.

Nashville Predator career (2020)

James was drafted by the Nashville Predators with the 82nd overall pick in the 2020 NHLHC Draft. As their primary starting goalie, he posted a solid 13-6-1 record with a 1.85 Goals Against Average and a .930 save percentage. James also started every game in goal for the Predators throughout their deep playoff run to the NHLHC Stanley Cup Finals, where they fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets in seven games.

Vancouver Canuck career (2021-present)

Left unprotected by the Predators, James was selected first overall in the 2021 NHLHC Expansion Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.
