Steve Pointer is an American football linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys. He was drafted in the 5th round of the 2016 NFLHC Draft out of Clemson by the Green Bay Packers. He has also played for the Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens.

Pointer was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 5th round of the 2016 NFLHC Draft. He played his rookie season with the Packers.
Following the 2016 NFLHC Season, Pointer was traded in a package deal to the Buffalo Bills, along with 2nd-year RB Chad Dess and a 2017 7th round pick originally belonging to the Cleveland Browns, for Buffalo's 2nd, 4th, and 7th round selections in the 2017 NFLHC Draft.
Following the 2017 NFLHC Season, Pointer was again traded in part of a package deal, along with 3rd-year TE James Ware and fellow 2nd-year player DE Ulysses Smith, to the Washington Redskins for 3rd-year ILB Mike Bledsoe and a 4th round pick (107th overall) in the 2018 NFLHC Draft.
Pointer was cut following the 2018 NFLHC Season, with the Redskins owing him $1.75M in dead money for both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He signed a 1-year, minimum contract with the Baltimore Ravens during pre-draft free agency.
