2014 Season
The Red Raiders entered the 2014 season as a talented team in what would be a challenging Big 12 conference. After a tough loss at Virginia Tech to open the season, the Red Raiders won 5 straight games including wins at home against Miami & Texas A&M, and in Knoxville against Tennessee. Led by star RB Shaun Evans and a stout defense that allowed only 15 PPG, the Red Raiders came out of the gates with a strong 5-1 start that propelled them to a #18 ranking in the Coaches Poll. The Red Raiders would then experience turmoil over their next five games. Five straight loses with a combined -74 scoring differential, as well as a coaching change, saw the Red Raiders chances for a bowl bid in jeopardy. The final game of the season was against hated rival TCU. TCU was adamant that they would be the reason that the Red Raiders bowl hopes would be ruined. Texas Tech came out with a purpose and took the Horned Frogs to the woodshed, beating them 34-7 on senior night behind a spectacular performance from senior RB Shaun Evans. However, that would not be enough, as the Red Raiders were left in Lubbock to prepare for the 2015 season.
