Thomas Wheeler (born February 17, 1992) is an American football Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was drafted with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFLHC Draft by the New York Giants. The Giants traded Wheeler to the Kansas City Chiefs before the 2017 NFLHC Draft. Wheeler played college football at Florida State.

College career

Wheeler attended Florida State for four years. He became the starting quarterback in 2014, after Christian Skaggs graduated. That year, Wheeler held the highest QB Rating in college football with a score of 184.54. He won the ACC Offensive Player of the Year Award and made the first-team All-ACC team. On a national level, Wheeler was granted the Johnny Unitas Award. He also finished third in Heisman Memorial Trophy voting.

Draft

Thomas Wheeler was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NFLHC Draft by the New York Giants. It was the first pick of the Giants expansion franchise.

New York Giants

2015

Wheeler was immediately named the starting quarterback for the New York Giants. He won 13 of the 26 games he started for the Giants over his first two seasons in the NFL. In 2016, Wheeler led the team to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, and even earned a first round bye. Unfortunately, the New Orleans Saints bested the team by a score of 28-10 in the Divisional Round.

Kansas City Chiefs

2017

Before the 2017 NFLHC Draft, the Giants traded Thomas Wheeler to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a pair of draft picks and Aaron Kotar. He is the Chiefs' starting quarterback as of 2020.
