History

The Dark Years

Currently, information is being compiled on this time in UNLV history. Not much is known other than a record of 8-52 in the first five years of the program.

2022

2022 was again another tough year for the Rebels. There was the slightest blip of hope after getting a win in Week 5, beating Louisiana-Lafayette 38-14 in front of a small and disinterested crowd at Sam Boyd Stadium. The win snapped a 15 game losing streak, dating back to Week 16 of 2020.

Sustained success would not yet happen to this program, as the following week they began another losing streak, falling 31-28 to San Jose State, in front of the same small and disinterested crowd at Sam Boyd Stadium.

After a good old fashioned drubbing of 35-0 at the hands of Hawaii in Week 10, school officials fired the head coach. They promoted a graduate assistant Sillakeon to lead the team going forward. The never before head coach proved to be quite the lazy hire by the AD. The team faltered in their final 4 weeks, failing to score points in 3 of their final 4 games. The coach ended up leaving, changing his number, and was never seen by any players or staff again. Some say he stills roams the bleachers of Sam Boyd Stadium, but this has only been a rumor and he has yet to turn up officially. Some also say he may rest not so peacefully in the desert, as he had amassed a large amount of gambling debts to many local bookies.

ChizDippler Era (2023-Present)

ChizDippler found his way into coaching by taking over a flailing program in UNLV. Las Vegas is ChizDippler's favorite city to visit, so he decided to stay and coach for a while

2023

The school made a bold decision by having a player coached team for 2023. The team failed to win any of their first 4 games, leading to the eventual hire of ChizDippler. He was given a contract that stated: "Please stay as long as you would like." UNLV players rallied and won the first game under ChizDippler, beating San Jose State by a score of 23-16. The team failed to make real progress after that game, and ChizDippler showed there would be a learning curve in his tenure, as the team lost all of their remaining games by a combined score of 58-190.
