History
Ethan_Agan Era (2018)
The UTSA Roadrunners began their inaugural season led by head coach Ethan Agan. He managed to lead them to a 1-4 record before taking an indefinite leave of absence. Without a head coach to lead the team through their first season, the Roadrunners finished with a 1-11 record and last in the C-USA West.
LamboThrone Era (2019-2021)
The 2019 season began with a new head coach for the young and inexperienced Roadrunners. After resigning from UNC, LamboThrone made a return to the state of Texas, as he was hired to lead the young UTSA program. This was a big hire for UTSA as LamboThrone was Coach of the Year in 2015 when he was at Texas Tech. LamboThrone did not repeat his success at UTSA though and struggled to bring in recruits. After the 2021 season, he was dismissed. The Roadrunners hired new coach Mahrowkeen heading into the 2022 season.
mahrowkeen Era (2022-Present)
mahrowkeen took over the 'Runners in his first chance to coach on any level. In his first season, he led UTSA to 9 wins (9-4), including their first bowl appearance and win over Illinois in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The Roadrunners continued this success in 2023, winning the C-USA West which ended Rice's streak of winning five straight conference championships. UTSA lost the C-USA championship to FIU and lost a tight bowl game against Ohio State. The future is bright after mahrowkeen's early success which helped land one of the top quarterback prospects in the country, Tavion Sankey.
