Draft
Wegert was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 2014 NFLHC Entry Draft with the #67 overall pick.
Green Bay Packers
Wegert spent 5 seasons with the Packers. From 2014-2016, Wegert was the leading receiver for the Packers. He made the Pro Bowl in 2016. However, in the following offseason, the Packers traded for WR Dan Nomellini and Wegert was not able to match his previous success. After the 2018 season, he was traded along with DT Bud Howard to the Kansas City Chiefs for DT Carter Jackson.
Kansas City Chiefs
Wegert spent less than 3 days with the Chiefs before being traded again, this time to the Los Angeles Chargers. He was traded with a 4th round pick for WR Richard Frazier and a 4th round pick.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers struggled heavily in the passing game in 2019 with injured veteran QB Will Thompson and rookie QB Matty Swift. The Chargers had picked up WR M.L. Kriewaldt from free agency but was not panning out as a #1 WR. Wegert was moved around the depth chart throughout the season and included some time as the #1 WR. He was allowed to enter free agency at the end of the season.
Minnesota Vikings
Wegert received offers from the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings in free agency. He accepted a 1 year, $2.75 million contract from the Vikings and will start the season in the slot position.
After the 2020 season Wegerts contract was extended
During the 2023 offseason Wegert signed a 1 year $0.6 million extension
