Professional career
Detroit Lions
The Lions drafted Stoutmire in the 9th round, 137 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. He started for 2 years for the Lions, but was eventually unseated by 2016 rookie Anthony Fasani. This made Stoutmire expendable, and therefore he was not protected prior to the 2017 Expansion Draft.
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals selected Stoutmire with their third round pick in the 2017 NFLHC Expansion Draft. Stoutmire was the first tight end to join the team, immediately becoming the Cardinals' starter.
In the first week of the 2017 season, Stoutmire caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime against the San Francisco 49ers from Jarius Jones.
