Early life
Mullins was born on August 1, 2000, to parents William and Belle. He attended Bunkie High School, and joined the football team as a fullback. Halfway through his freshman season, Mullins was asked to go to a tryout for the quarterback, as injuries piled up. He won the starting job the same week, and the team was forced to run the ball much more frequently. At the end of the year, he had 5 touchdowns, with less than 10 completions. During his sophomore year, Mullins automaticly won the starting job, as other quarterbacks "threw like punters," according to the coach. Completions were below one-half, but with a high number of touchdowns. Similar themes continued for the next two years. Bunkie High School won the state championship in his senior year, with Mullins throwing 6 touchdowns.
Recruiting
Mullins walked on to Tulane, as no schools were interested in him.
College career
Freshman year
Once entering college, Mullins was immediately redshirted. He began training in 2016, with 3 other quarterbacks. He became the 3rd string quarterback for the majority of the season. After the Northern Illinois game, the Green Wave were no longer eligible for a bowl, and coach Isaac began shifting the quarterback depth chart. Stephen McGee was benched for his senior night, and freshman Randall Moulton was moved up for the game against Army in two weeks. The debut was disastrous, with 6 picks being thrown by Moulton. Isaac quickly switched to Mullins for Rice, for a bigger chance to win. In the Rice game, Mullins threw 7 touchdowns using short passes. Tulane barely won, as both defenses were soft. For the next game against Marshall, Mullins threw 4 interceptions and completed less than 40% of the passes. He was then benched for Andrew Miller, the fourth-string quarterback.
Sophomore year
Mullins is currently the third string quarterback for the Green Wave, behind Lawrence Pritchett and Randall Moulton.
