Early Life

Austin was born in Stockton, Missouri. With his lanky frame, Austin was used primarily as a tight end and linebacker in high school, becoming one of the top two way players in Missouri. He received quite a number of options coming out of high school, but after a visit from LDYo, Austin joined Tennessee and the #1 recruiting class in 2015.

2017 Season

In his redshirt freshman year, Austin was put directly into the starting line up, starting along side Will London. In week 1 against BYU, Austin had his first two receptions for 20 yards. It wasn't until Week 9 against the eventual SEC Champions Florida that Austin caught his first touchdown pass, a 28 yard deep bomb from Julius Thomas. Austin ended the season leading all Tennessee receivers with 457 yards.

2018 Season

With his second season, Austin emerged as the dangerous receiving threat he was expected to be coming out of high school. Statistically, Austin had the greatest receiving season of any Tennessee Volunteer in history, and was the first Vol to crack the 1,000 receiving yard mark. Austin also tied the record for most receptions in a season with Eric Minter, at 69 receptions. In a losing effort against Texas A&M, Austin had an incredible 10 reception, 165 yard and 2 touchdown game.
