Brayden Whitten is an American football defensive end who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Rice.

Early Life
Whitten was born in Houston, TX. He grew up a big wrestling fan and wrestled his freshman through junior years of high school before deciding to try football his senior season. Whitten loved the game and decided to play college football at Blinn College before making the leap to Rice.
Recruiting
College Career
Whitten attended Rice for two years and was the driving force in the front seven of the defense. Whitten accumulated 13.5 sacks which is currently a career record at Rice. During his senior season Whitten had 49 tackles which was third most ever for a DE in a season when he graduated, behind first round pick Dexter Flowers and second round pick Omar McManus.

Professional Career
Draft
Whitten was not invited to the combine. Whitten was not drafted. Despite his success at Rice, he did not receive a single offer as a UDFA during the offseason.
Minnesota Vikings
During week 8 of the 2020 season, the Vikings signed Whitten to a 2 year, $1.0 million contract and promptly placed Whitten on the practice squad. He was cut after the 2020 season.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins gave Whitten a chance during the 2021 pre-season but was ultimately cut before the regular season.
Arizona Cardinals
Whitten was signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad during the middle of the 2021 season. At the end of the season, he was released to free agency.
